I tested spread patterns today using 4 different shells. All are 9 pellet except the LE13300, it's 8 pellet. Gun is a Mossberg 930 SPX w/Burris Fast Fire 3 red dot. The Federal rounds are "Law Enforcement Only" but they can be found by a civilian if you search for them. The last is S&B 9 pellet. It had a drastically larger spread due to all the Federal having the "Flight Control Wad". They are huge wads. (that's what she said)I chose 10yds because that's the furthest shot I'd make in my home. The groups are only tighter @ closer ranges. All the Federal stay real tight till about 30yds., then they start opening up more. I tried turning the pictures but they kept turning back sideways for some reason. All of the Federal went thru the sheetrock, thru 5/8" burch & then still hit my fence about 25yds further behind target.

This last pic shows the wad from the 2nd round fired @ the same sheet.

Yep. That's 1 reason why I showed this. The other was to show the performance of the Federal LE ammo.
I forgot to add that I didn't 'sight' this gun in until after these test shots.

Which is good! Personally, I'd like juuuuuuust a little larger group. The LE12700 (1,345fps) averaged about 2.5" pattern. I wish I could get a ~3.5-4" pattern @ 10yds. Yes, It's not much of a difference, I know.
I did some reading on federal's LE page & these were actually designed to stay in the wad (1" group) until hitting the target, then spreading wildly causing massive temporary & permanent wound channel damage. Hornady has a similar wad in their TAP shotgun ammo but they're high on their price, usually ~$3 more per 5rds ($6.99). All these Federal LE's cost ~$3.99/per box of 5. I found them as low as $.60/rd, which is $3/box or $150/per 250rd case.
The 13200 & 13300 are considered low recoil (1,145fps) & the 12700 is considered high velocity (HV) @ 1,345fps. The Hornady TAP is available as a 'magnum' @ 1,600fps.

You don't aim a shotgun. You aim a rifle. You point a shotgun.

With a pattern that tight, you better be a damn precise pointer.

You aim a shotgun that has sights and/or a red dot! You point a shotgun that has a bead. aim
