Me and wife had salmon last night . Put large filets on top of brown rice medley and microwaved up a big bag of frozen Carrots with Broccolli and water crest chestnuts . Went very well together ! However you can go to Foodnetwork and lookup Bobby Flay and find his recipe for tuna . He always has great side dishes !

Coleslaw goes great with fish. You can make it ahead of time and keep it in the frig.

I think I have it. I'll combine most of the advice here, except coleslaw. Don't think I can do coleslaw with tuna steaks, sorry Bill.
Think I'm going to do the seared tuna with pineapple salsa and some brown rice with sauteed green and orange bell peppers, onion, garlic and water chestnuts.

How does that sound?

One of my wife's favorite meals is grilled yellowfin tuna steaks with grilled potatoes. I get the canned whole potatoes and rinse them off. Then marinate in soy sauce with a sprinkle of Worcestershire sauce and a bit of dried dill. These are quite easy and surprisingly tasty.

That sounds really good but I would add the broccoli and carrots maybe steamed with those peppers . Another good side is roasted asparagus with salt and pepper . Just roast until done but still a little crisp . 450 oven for about 12-15 minutes .

Peel some sweet potatoes and cut them into 1.5" chunks. Put a chunk of butter and a bit of olive oil in a large bowl and microwave until the butter melts. Add the sweet potato chunks and sprinkle with salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper and brown sugar. Toss everything around to coat the potato chunks. Dump the whole works out on a sheet pan lined with aluminum foil and put in 350 degree oven until the edges of the potato chunks turn a little brown (I like them very brown).

Goes well with any grilled fish dish, and darn near anything else.

Here's how it turned out. Tuna got a little more done than I wanted. Pineapple salsa was good but over powered the tuna. Probably would have been better with a grilled pork chop. Rice was good. Next time I'll try either the veggies as suggested maybe stir fried or roasted. The grilled potatoes sound good and the sweet potatoes too. No surprise that comes from a La boy.

I watched a Bobby Flay show Sunday and he cooked tuna . He just slightly brushed with olive oil then salt and peppered then grilled for just a few minutes per side . He said careful not to over cook the tuna . He said better to slightly undercook than to over cook . That's the way I do my salmon only I oven bake at 450 for 15 minutes . Comes out perfect with great taste and not dry .

Maybe try a mango salsa instead of pineapple. The flavor is less overpowering. It looks really good!

I do something similar with my salmon, but sear in a cast iron skillet for a few minutes each side then bake for 8-10 min at 425 and drizzle with a garlic lime butter sauce. Fantastic every time.
