this is footage of the largest alligator gar caught yet during 2017 on the trinity river.
This 8 foot 1 inch giant could be one of the largest and oldest alligator gar living in the united states, one thing that is for sure is there are not many this size left.

that fish is most likely between 50-80 years old, the oldest gar on record was 86 years old.
growth depends on genetics but most 7 foot gar take 30 years or more to get to be that size.
