Ok, a big happy dance. Received my USMC issued/used M45A1 today. I love it. I only wish I had bought 1 or 2 more. The condition is way better than the example they listed in the Gun Broker auction.

They sold out in 3 days. Seller had over 700 of them. The first 50 sold for $1295, the rest for $1350. About half were like mine and went to individuals. The other half went to dealers. They've been relisting and selling them on gunbroker anywhere from around $2700 to $3700.

Apparently they are about to list some others but new in the box. Not sure when they are going to be listed, so far they only say "coming" but one of the original buyers says he was offered and is getting one of them for $500 more than what he paid for the used gun so that may mean that the NIB ones will be listed for like $1850.

Don't ask me how a gun can be both pre-owned and NIB too smile I guess they mean those were delivered to the Marines but never issued. While I'd love to have one to complement the one I have, personally I'd rather have a pistol that was actually issued and used by a Marine and shows it. Hey my Marine even made an idiot scratch! I wonder if their Sargent yelled at them to inform them why it's called an Idiot Scratch? smile

I could be wrong but you probably saw the regular production M45A1 ones, not an actual USMC marked and issued gun with authentication letter from Colt. Even commercial USMC marked pistols sell for $3-4k. Earl

Funny thing. I just bought a new in the box USMC roll marked one today. Not the decommissioned ones. I paid a pretty hefty price though. I'll get pics up in a little bit. Good buy Earl. That finish looks really good. Can't really tell many blems from the pics. I'm gonna shoot mine this weekend. My buddies tell me I'm an idiot for shooting it, but hey, that's what guns are for right.

That's crazy...I so wish I had bought 2 or 3. I may get another if the opportunity arises at what I paid for this one. Earl

Nice pistol! Can't imagine paying $1500+ for one. To each their own.

I actually haven't even seen anyone post a pic of one that was worse than the one they had in the auction listing. They should have noted that it was an example of the worst condition available.

This one has definitely been used, but it's not bad. There was still a good bit of carbon residue inside the slide. The Cerakote is pretty much worn away on the feedramp. Used but taken pretty good care of - other than the idiot scratch smile Pretty nice to have an example of the first service pistols available to the public since the NRA/DCM .45's when I was just a baby. And sadly most likely the last US military 1911 ever.

When you're reassembling a 1911 and you're putting the slide stop back in a lot of people will slide it in from the bottom leaving a rounded scratch in the finish of the frame.
