Invited by a friend to hunt specific species to improve deer and turkey populations. Doing some research online and came across this find: Texas Parks and Wildlife: Wildlife Management Activities and Practices 270 pages of really insightful stuff for land owners and hunters. It's geared towards better conservation over all. Ton of small articles, which makes for a quick read. A gem of detailed information. Thought I'd pass on the read.

I developed my wildlife plan from this guide and was approved immediately by the county. TPWL doesn't need to sign off on it.

I developed my wildlife plan from this guide and was approved immediately by the county. TPWL doesn't need to sign off on it. same here ... I first started helping a guy convert his ranch over to a Wildlife Management Improvement exemption back in the mid 1990s and have done so on 5 other properties including my own. This would have been very helpful 20 years ago when we first got started and trying to figure everything out. when I converted my own property over, I got with the TPWD biologist for our county to get his recommendations, filled out all the TPWD forms and took to the county to which I was told they didn't use the TPWD forms and they had their own. I had to transfer all the information over to the county specific forms ... just word of warning each county might have slightly different forms required.
