What's the best thing to plant for dove in central Texas that is the most drought resistant?

one year I planted 1/2 milo and plowed the other 1/2 and sunflowers grew there by themselves. I had just as many doves in the sunflowers ---- that was the last time I planted anything. All I do now is plow and the sunflowers come up.

I been doing it for about 10 years and the only the bad about native sunflowers is they spread every wheres
