22 and you can use full power and sub sonic ammo. Sub sonic will make everyone giggle.

.22 LR if quiet is top priority.

.22 if you need the quietest possible.

.17 if you are shooting 75+ yards.

I can hit a squirrel in the head at 125 yards using my Savage 22LR bolt action, CCI Standard ammo, and my SilencerCo Spectre II suppressor. It's ridiculously quiet. Basically all you hear is the firing pin and then the target being hit.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

Bolt action 22 with cb caps would be a good start.

.17 and 22 mag don't suppress well, as others have said .22l bolt gun can be stupid quiet. I have a CZ 455 w/ a .22lr barrel and a 17 so best of both.

I thought .17's suppressed pretty well. If a .22 breaks the sounds barrier you will get a crack just like the .17.

Is you .17hmr threaded too? You would know better than me because you have both a .22 and a .17.

yes its threaded, the sonic crack isn't the problem, the gun powder "pop" is,,,,, there is just not that much to suppress.
