Thinking about building a fence with this stuff - Red Brand Welded Wire, 60 in. x 100 ft. - http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/welded-wire-60-in-x-100-ft. Will build with h-brace and t-post. Want something to keep the chickens in and maybe even a few pygmy goats down the road. Is that particular welded wire fencing a good choice?

There is no such thing as good welded wire. It's temporary wire, that is destined to be replaced by wrapped wire. Do yourself a favor and get Red Brand non-climb fence. I've built miles of the stuff, and I can show you 20 year old fences that still loom just as good as they did the day they were built. There are several techniques to installing the wire. Holler at me if you need some guidance.

Especially with goats. They're born looking for a place to die, and born looking for a way over, under, and through a fence. And kid goats are every predator's favorite meal.

Thanks, that's the kind of advice I was looking for.

I've had better luck with Stay - Tuff brand fencing.

Click on the various types on the left to find the mesh you want.
Signified by different animals & security.

Solid gold advice from JG. There is no good welded wire.

A large hungry dog will chew and tear through welded wire, been there done that. Woven wire (2"x4" non climb horse fence) works great. However it is expensive and must be pulled tight on installation. I live on 38 acres with coyotes everywhere. My solution to keep my wife's goats and chickens 100% safe was to build a 90' by 90' safe pen out of 6' non climb horse fence surrounded by electric. This is where they spend the night (coop and goat shelters are in it). Connected to this pen i fenced in 3 acres for grazing out of seven strand high tensile wire electrified with a 50 mile charger. The 3 acre high tensile cost under $1 a foot in materials to build.
Of course that did not stop a hungry owl from swooping in and grabbing a chicken, but my game cam shows the coyotes will not get within 20 feet of the electric fence.

The best kind of fence that you can build for goats is one that when you are done. Someone can stand on the other side of with a bucket of water throw that water at you and not one drop hits you. But in all seriousness we use the 4X4 twisted wire fencing to keep our goats in. 4.5 ft tall and two strands of barb wire on top piano string tight.

Stay tuff high tensile 4x4 is now replacing a lot of my Red Brand woven wire.
Billy goats are hard on fences.
I also agree that welded wire is junk.
