$55 Spikes Battle Trigger at 5.5# is pretty nice.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

The trigger is the most important mod you could do for an AR.
I'm told the Velocity works well and is the cheapest I'm aware of.
Cry once and get the CMC. You'll be glad you did.

Ideally I want to go cmc but budget is out the window at this point just trying to get it better than it is now. But looks like I can get a cmc for about same price as the velocity.

Midway USA has a enhanced AR Stoner trigger on sale for 29.00. I've never used one, but he reviews are strong.

The trigger is the most important mod you could do for an AR. I agree. never owned a CMC but have heard they are good. I have a Timney in my AR. If your AR has a trigger now I'd just use it until you can save up for a good drop-in.

I'm a bit of a trigger snob. 5.5 isn't gonna cut it. Want around 3lbs Do what you want. I'm all about good triggers. All of my firearms have good triggers. They either came that way, I put after market triggers in them or had a trigger job done. I've even had trigger jobs done on some shotguns. In your original post you asked about a cheap trigger, then stated in a subsequent post you are a trigger snob. Cheap AR trigger and good AR trigger are pretty much mutually exclusive in my book. When I bought my CZ 512 I knew going in it would have a bad trigger but I knew I wanted one. I also knew I didn't have the money then to do anything about it. So I waited several months until I saved some money and had a trigger job done. That is why I suggested you use the current trigger until you can get a good one. Buy a cheap trigger now and if you are a trigger snob then you probably won't be happy with it. It'll then take you that much longer to get a trigger that will make you happy.

I can get the jp spring kit for $10 but mixed reliability reviews. Gets it a lot better than what it is now. Wife isn't exactly happy I'm 450 over what I told her I would spend and then another 200 plus for a good trigger probably gonna end up in the dog house or an expensive shopping trip for her. Neither are appealing.
If it's a good enough improvement just doing the springs now I'll spend $10. If it's a waste then I'll just pony up and eat ramen for the next week.

The springs will lighten it up ever so slightly but will still be over 5 pounds. I ran them for a long time and never any issues, but still no where near the 3 pound you're wanting to be at.

I have bought in the last month the JMT Saber Trigger for less than $100 shipped. I'm installing this weekend. Had good reviews. Also purchased the Rise Armament Sporting Trigger for $115 shipped not hard to find great value for a curved 3.5# Trigger. Caught 2 CMC 3.5# flat shoe for $129 on sale! Keep an eye out at primary arms. Also finished my first Trigger job with using 3k grit on a lmt mil spec Trigger and jp springs and for $20 and time, I'm really impressed haven't measured pull yet. I have 2 gieselle triggers and the skeletonized timmney and imo the CMC is better. Now if you saved up for the elf that Trigger is sweeeeeettttttt

You may look into the RRA NM trigger. Not super cheap, but a good option.
Try the springs. It will be better than the stock trigger, and you'll only be out $10.

I run a Timney in bolt guns and they truly make a difference in accuracy for me. In my ARs I just run ALG triggers because they are cheap and its an AR so Im not all that concerned with accuracy out of them.

I used JP yellows & Spike's Battle trigger. For a total of $65 it was nice & as light as I'd want to go on an AR that I ran while shooting. If you just bench shoot your AR then it might not be light enough for you. If you chase hogs & shoot them on the run then it's perfect.

I had a DPMS and got a Bill Springfield trigger job for about $40 and it was really nice. My stock DPMS trigger was kind of heavy and had a good bit of creep and Bill's trigger job fixed both. But it probably wasn't down at 3 lbs even after Bill was done. Maybe 4-ish.

I have an ALG ACT trigger and JP springs. To me, it is a very good trigger for the money. It is creep free, clean, and breaks at about 3.5-4.0 lbs. If reliability becomes an issue, replace the JP hammer spring with the factory.
