since the landscape changes so much and I am on a new lease were can I go to look at a current satellite image of the land that I am going to hunt. Google earth is out dated and can not find another source.

Try this ---> Google plan

You can check the acreage with it too.

I might be able to help you out. You looking to just get a digital image? or you want something printed out? Feel free to PM me with some GPS points or address and I can see what imagery dates we have available.

I wonder why sometimes it may take years for a current map to surface? I have been looking also.

Google has changed their display to "imagery 2017" but the actual images are still older. My property still has images from the drought years 2012 or 2013.....

I looked at mine and it shows a fishing pier I installed about 6 months ago. That to me seems pretty current.

The 300+ acres east of us is almost a row crop field on google earth. You cant see much less drive across it now. It has trees over 20' tall. A lot can change in 3-4 years.

The link I gave is Acme planimeter, it uses google maps for imagery.

Texas is a big place it takes a while & costs money to re image areas.

On our place in far W Tx the newest satellite images I've found are from 2002 in Montague it shows my pickup & goosneck with half a load of hay on it. That had to have been from last December.

I am impressed by the image quality too...took me a good 5 minutes to figure out who the heck was standing in my front yard with none of us at home. Shadows and all...It was my wife's stupid inflatable Christmas decorations.
