Sounds like fun, count me in, may bring a freind or two. everyone planning on throwing in on the side pot?? Anyone care if the wife comes to watch??

Quick question about pricing, if you get 20 people, won't that cut the pricing to about $18.00 per person, plus cart. So a total of $28 per person??

Friends and family are welcome!! Let me check on the cart situation and ride alongs, but I think we should be ok.

I would say not based on the other thread, I will do it just to partake and draw folks out because I know a lot of folks are into that, but $10 max is all I will donate.

Folks can post up if they are interested in the side pot so you can get an idea of the interest, but some will partake and some will not, and we will see who is really interested in that on game day!

Below is a link to their fees, but the prices I mentioned above were based on a phone call to the front desk, but I will talk directly to Jeanie Almond about fees for more clarification.

Is this like golf? Do you have to get the cart or is it better for carrying the ammo and guns.

Okay, go ahead and call me stupid but I've never done this before. I'm a hunter not a Claya.
And how much ammo should I bring, is there a limit to how many times I can shoot at one target before it hits the ground if I don't hit it the first time, or are these already running on the ground. I don't know but I've got a fast gun.
OH and how many guns should I bring, you know my barrel might get to hot and need to use another one. LOL
Are you sure you want me to come after reading this post?????

Next week, Saturday May 9th, be there 1:30, we will start at 2:00.

All this is detailed on my first post, and keep on eye on it, it may change. There is another big Tournament that morning, so I'm trying to miss that.

You in??

Absolutely, we are going to have a good time. If you have never shot sporting clay before or never shot clay at all for that matter, this is a perfect time to go, and will be a great experience for you.

There are two 100 target sporting clay courses at Elm Fork, the Meadows Course and the Woods Course. Each course has 12 stations, and yes you use a golf cart to drive to each station. You can walk, and many do, and the concept is very similar to golf, a push cart is nice to carry your gun and ammo, kinda like a pull cart to carry your golf clubs. It is more fun to take a golf cart, and that is what we will do!

Anyways, so there are 12 stations if you shoot the full course. On 10 of those stations you shoot 8 targets, that is 80 targets. And on 2 stations, you shoot 10 targets, that is a total of 100 targets. At each station, there will be a sign that tells you what you will be shooting, doubles, singles, etc..

We will not be shooting the whole course, we will shoot half the course, 50 targets. So if everything goes right, you will take 50 shoots or 2 boxes of shells. It is always good to carry some extra shells tho, you may have a miss fire, or you may lose a shell, or you may have to retake a shot, etc…

I will need to check on this, but I’m pretty sure you are not allowed to shoot more than once at a target in sporting clay. On singles, you load 1 shell. On doubles, you load 2 shells. You never load 3 shells, and I’m pretty sure it is against the general range rules to load more than 2 shells at once.

I think I answered all your questions, but let me know if you got any more questions!! Just bring your gun, ammo (2 boxes, plus some extras), eye protection (if you wear glasses, that works), and ear plugs. Eye protection and ear plugs are range rules.

Guy,
We are hosting a party at my house at 5 Saturday so I doubt I would be able to make it. If I have things set up at the house and all my honey-dos done, I might try going and just drop out and head home if not finished on the course in time. I live nearby.

Lt Mod, Mod or Imp Cyl will get the job done and yes 7.5 is as big as you can go out there.

I think my shooting buddy and I are going to shoot our first registered targets at Alpine or we would come show up. We are newbies so no concern with us if we decide otherwise.

About an hr and a half, +- 15 minutes. Depending on how big of groups. For example, if there are 8 of us, and we shoot as one group (which I think will be more fun to do), it would take longer vs if we split into 2 groups and started on different stations, there would be less waiting.

Hope you make it out!!

I think I talked myself into going guys... love shooting clays but I suck at it. I want/need to know about the "tentative lunch" thing on the main post though... don't want to show up hungry and not eat until later, gotta keep up my manly physique you know.

I went ahead and took that out becuase of lack of interest, we will keep this gig simple. Maybe we can go have a beer after the shoot!!

Dangit, I just found out we are doing Mothers day on Saturday. I have to be there by 5pm. So if this starts at say 2pm and lasts 2 hrs then that leaves me 1hr to get there right.
Do you think I can make it. I sure have been looking forward to this.

Yeah, that is right. We should be done by 3:30 or 4:00, but you just never know. What happens if you are late?

If you can't make it, that is ok, I'm sure we can get some guys together and do it again this off season.
