Ordered some calls online yesterday morning about 5:30, they were here at the house by 3:00 today.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Didn't know there was still a store, went a couple times to buy hooks and a coon call, after selling hides some place close to Marble Falls. There was a TV program that interviewed the surviving brother, they had a falling out and didn't speak to each other for some time. Never did reconciled before the one died, can't remember which one died first. Enjoyed many articles they wrote.

Store was in MF almost across from Bluebonnet Cafe. Had the rattlesnakes in the front window, bought my first mouth call there. Dam that was a long time ago!! Remember talking to both of them.

I purchased Burnham Brothers from Murry Burnham in 1991 and moved the business to Menard. Murry and Winston Burnham started the company in 1952 and without a doubt, has sold more predator calls than any company. We still make most of the old models of hand calls and produced the first digitial caller ever made in 1990. For the last six years, we have produced the most popular of all predator hunting shows, CARNIVORE which airs on the PURSUIT CHANNEL in the third and fourth quarters. You can watch most of the older episodes by going to CARBONTV and clicking on CARNIVORE. Thanks and Adios, Gary

Got rid of all the snakes as they were known to escape into the store from time to time. Sure made the employees nervous. Adios, Gary

Was in the store one day when they were cleaning out the windows where the snakes were located, one got loose and lots of us climbed upon anything handy....wasn't funny for a few seconds and then lots of laughs and beers bought for that experience. Good memories

Made one stand yesterday morning using the Mini Blaster and had three yotes come in together. Got one but the others turned into dust trails going over the hill. This was the hill Gary and Steve called right before we went across the valley and got into where they seen the Aoudads. Tried another stand for Javalina's but they were a no show. Going to try the Javalina call again this afternoon in an area I know they're bedding down in. I'll make sure I bring my camera this time.
Let me also add that this was quite a surprise for me since the last time I called was about ten years ago when I called up two cats for 7Mag.

Was the Weems the dark grey/green that had the cottontail and jackrabbit reeds, unscrewed the barrel to change the reeds? I still have one in the original box with a piece of jute string for a lanyard... Finally stored it away for son or grandson who never came.

They were great guys, taught a lot of us about hunting fishing, traping an other things Yes, same here. I grew up in Austin and we would go up to the store in Marbles Falls (late 60's early 70's) and hang out. Talk with Murry mostly. Buy calls and talk about varmint hunting. They were good trappers too. Helped field test their first attempt at a 9 volt head mounted varmint light (with rheostat/potentiometer before it went to market. They were very innovative guys. Superb hunters (both) and willing to freely share their knowledge with those whom they felt were 'worthy'. Good old days for sure.

Look familiar? Got this one when I was 16 yrs. old. My best friend and I Sat outside the store on that big high curb and practiced blowing it under the tutelage of Murry Burnham himself. We sounded more like a couple of wounded ducks than a rabbit, but we got better. I've kept this one ever since. Worn out a few more.

There was a place after Lago Vista but before M/F (around Hamilton Creek) on the right hand side, that we would sell furs to.

Back in the 60's and early 70's, I use to get a great kick out of reading their stuff. I also bought their calls and will never forget the first time I saw a fox come bounding in to the squeals of a Burnham call. As life goes, I got busy with work so did not get to do much varmint hunting after that. However, a few years ago I was on a Youth hunt and the youngster I was guiding really wanted to get a coyote. I had a candy wrapper in my pocket and tried to duplicate the squeals of the old Burnham call. The coyote showed up on schedule and the kid made a lifetime memory thanks to a trick learned from the Burnham bros.

They made a dough bait that was a killer for carp!!! I make one also. 1 lb flour, 1 lb sugar, 1 lb cottonseed meal. Mix with a Big Red soda to proper consistency. #8 or #10 treble hook and no weight.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

That sounds like some of the same stuff my grandpa use to make up dough bait HWY_MAN. They had a lot carcasses around to make it with, don't know if that makes it better, but it sure worked!!
