Have pretty well decided to get an A400 and was wondering if the extreme would eject the lighter loads good? Any info on either the Extreme, Xcel, or Xplor would be helpful. My main focus would be sporting clays and trap. I would also like to use it hunting as my old Rem pump is pounding the shoulder a little harder these days. I know I can count on the THFers to give some advise.

My good buddy has had one for about 3years. He primarily duck hunts but we've been sporting clays together and it's done just fine when standard loads. No issues as far as I can remember with lighter loads.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I have the predecessor, the 391 Extrema, and at first it didn't like the lighter weight shells. Suck it up and run high brass dove loads at the skeet range if they allow it. It may run the lighter loads from the start, mine didn't.

I bought an A400 from a THF a few months ago. My daughter has been using it for her High School clays team practice. They shoot the cheap bulk Fiocchi shells and it has about 250 rounds through it so far with out a hiccup. And mine has the kick off stock on it as well.
I decided on the A400 specifically because their gas system dependabilty and low recoiling. So my teenager girls can compete with a 12 gauge and not get beat up to bad.
Keep a look out in the used gun world and you can find one several hundred lower than a new one.

A400 Xtrema cycles 12 ga, 2-3/4", 1 oz faster than any 12 ga semi on the market last time I checked. Very fast action and also lightest weight 12 gauge semi. Very minimal recoil

I have read that the older 391 Extrema's could have issue but I borrowed one for a hunt a long time ago and did not have problem with 1 oz loads.

i have one and absolutely love it. I recommend running 100-200 rounds of higher brass shells through it to take it through a break in period. I did that and i shoot everything from 3.5' steel to #4 high brass to 2 3/4 1oz bird shot and have never had an issue. my particular gun is the a400 xtreme, definitely worth the price tag.

Guy who wins our church skeet shoot every year has an A400 in 20 gauge. It's a bit embarrassing for him to smoke all of us 12 gauge shooters, but it's hard to compete when the guy just doesn't miss...

I have the Blue Xcel one with the 30 in barrel. The gentleman I purchased it from through in his Cylinder Compn choke. He said it was the best choke in that gun for skeet and 25 yard or in clays.

I own an A400 Xplor Unico 12 ga 28" barrel with kick off I bought one as soon as they were available in store The Xtreme was my mistake or typo Shot thousands of 1 oz loads without fail to cycle. I have never shot 7/8 oz because I use the same Winchester 2-3/4 8 shot for clays and dove. I think it is 6.6 lbs with 28" barrel and 7.1 lbs with the kick off. If I could afford the Xtreme in Max 5 camo I would buy one Do you have any experience with them?

I like Beretta, have owned two because I want one but they just don't fit. The reason for my question about fast cycling is because several makes claim to be the fastest cycling shotgun but it doesn't matter. Even the slowest cycles much faster than you or I can pull the trigger.

A400 Xcel 12 gauge, 28 with Muller choke... Great sporting clays gun... just wish it had the raised barrel rib like my Benelli duck guns. I believe the new Beretta's have this as another model.
I have not had a cycle issue on light loads... but I've got 600 plus rounds through it.
Get a Briley bolt release and you will be very happy.

I use a Briley extended IC choke on my A400, perfect pattern for both dove and ducks shooting 2-3/4 8's and 3" 4's

A buddy of mine had two Beretta's new out of the box that didn't cycle right. He took them to the Beretta store and both had wrong size springs. Store put in correct springs and life is wonderful now.
We interrupt this marriage for the hunting season.

Thanks for all the feed back and wouldn't you know it I found a Benelli SBE to my liking and bought it. I believe either one would work for me.
