I can't get their site to load right now, but AR Performance is the name of the game in 6.8.

ARP in my opinion has the best bolt hands down and a top tier barrel as well. He use to check the bolt and barrel for head space and fit if you order both at the same time and I would bet he still does the same today. I don't remember the specs on the bolt but I remember the lugs being the strongest on the market due to his design.

For 6.8 Mags most will tell you PRI is the best but they are expensive. I have never had any issues with ASC/AR Stoner mags though. I have one 10 round ASC/AR Stoner mag I use for hunting and have put that mag though hell over the last 5+ years and it just keeps on running like a champ.
I think the main reason the PRI is so popular is it allows for a tad bit more OAL if you are a handloader.

I purchased a 6.8 spc II from PSA. The barrel was the CHF barrel which is their top of the line barrel. The gun is amazingly accurate and I've had zero issues with it. Not sure is PSA is still producing the 6.8 but it's worth checking out.
PRI and c-product mags work well.

Not to rain on ARP, but I have two of his barrels. One is an 18" 223 Wylde, and the other is a 6.5 x 6.8. I've never been impressed by either of them. They shoot mediocre at best.

So looking at ARP, they sell at 5R and a 3R grooved barrels. Any thoughts on why you'd do one or the other?

ARP hands down on any 6.5 and 6.8 I build. I have never had a barrel from him not shoot sub moa and his prices are very fair. The 5r rifling is great and is what I have at this time but 3r rifling has proven to out perform it.

I think the 3R are fairly new barrels for ARP. I just helped a buddy put his together a couple months ago and that wasn't an option. I believe it will help stabilize a heavier bullet 130-140 range. Now I have to go dig in, going to cost me more money.

So the 3R is the way to go? Considering order a 12.5 and a 16 inch from him.

I am more than pleased with my 5R barrel, cant imagine it getting any better. I would be interested in that other one though.
Fyi, if he has them in stock and your buying don't wait. He's out of stock a lot.
