Have family with a small property in Caldwell. One of the Uncles hunts it very lightly (goes out once or twice a year maybe) and said I could use it as well this coming season. Anyone hunt this area and know anything about the deer population?

I used to have a place in the Yegua bottoms between Caldwell and Lexington. Beautiful area, deer at my place were plentiful and decent sized, but those bottoms are much better than most of the county. Lots of deer in and around Somerville as well.
It's going to depend a lot on your neighbors. Lots of that land is very cut up with high hunting pressure.

Thanks, I guess that's like most properties. If I can shoot a doe during daylight, it'd be an improvement on what I'd seen out in Sabine County. Bar is set pretty low on this front, ha.

It's a no-doe county, so you'll need to either get tags or take one during bow season.
Does would not have been even the slightest of issues at my place. Wasn't unusual to have 5-10 at the feeder at once. I had a lot of bucks, but like a lot of places, they were either youngsters or got real smart once the season opened.

The creeks and Brazos River bottom have the best deer densities in the county. You start getting in that open prairie country around Hwy 21 and there aren't as many deer. The sandy post oak/yaupon thickets on the north end of the county have deer too, but not in big numbers. Lots of pigs in places as well.
Burleson County has 4 doe days the weekend of Thanksgiving; it started this year's hunting season. It also has a muzzleloader season. make sure and check the outdoor annual to get the correct dates for each season.
