looking to buy a good optic to place atop my AR. This gun will not be a bench gun but more of a everyday shooter. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I prefer a good 1-4 optic for an AR. It will do anything and everything I need out to 600+ yards. Yes, 4x out to 600+ with a 223.

I'd think anything from the 1-1 3/4 - 4or 6 would do fine. Ran a 1 3/4-6 #4 and never had a problem taking it out to 450. Red dot if you're just wanting a 'tactical' type of rig. Though I'm not that much of a fan of them.

Mtac1-4, vortex razor 1-6, or swaro 1-6.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Leupold VX.R 1.25-4x is another option. I have one on my CZ527 and like it a lot.

I like the VX-R too. Have a 2-7x33 on my AR.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

I have a V-6 1-6 on my AR, it has the red dot you can turn off or vary the brightness, VERY quick target acquisition at 1X, very precise for 600yrds at 6X.
Con: expensive, but you get what u pay for, that's why everyone is asking how much you can afford
don't skimp here

Vortex Strike Eagle is a solid option for what you are asking. Used, they typically run about $300.
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?
