Has anyone else had a problem with this. I killed a Mallard drake and a Wood Duck hen yesterday morning that had it. I read where it was caused by a parasite. It about made me sick thinking about trying to eat that. barf The pic below was not my duck, but looked just like this. The Woodie didn't have it as bad.

Shot a green wing hen today that had it. Didn't bother keeping the meat on that one but that's the first one I've seen this season for us.

Eat it, it won't hurt you. It adds flavor. Look at it this way, you get a meat and rice dish all in one.

I killed several teal during early teal season that had it. So far none during duck season. Always shoot a few a year.

I've shot 2 teal that had it this year... I personally don't eat that. I did save them to help train the pup though.

If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready!

You train your pup with a duck breast?

I read that if cooked properly, it was safe to eat. I also read that if other animals consumed the raw meat, it could be passed on. Might be careful training dogs with it.

As for me, I'm NOT eating that.

There have been cases (mostly in third world countries) of humans contracting this, but i can't remember if it was from eating infected meat or not. I think it was from the way other animals contract it (dirty water, through an open wound). I then read that cooked properly, it is safe for human consumption but not for, say, your dog. Something about dogs' digestion system not killing it, but ours will.

I won't eat it when one of my ducks has it and I know there is no way in hell my wife would.
