Same price at Dicks's right now. Whaddya think, and why do you think it?

If you own either of these guns, I would really like some input.

Thanks-

I'd go for the "Baikal." It's a tank.

I have never owned either one, but I do like semi automatic shotguns. I have 2 A .12 ga. Browning gold hunter and a .20 ga. Beretta AL 391 urika. From what I have heard about the 2 you are choosing between, sounds like the Remmington branded one might be more reliable. Thats important with a semi auto as there are more things to go wrong with it.

We've had a bunch of posts on why the SPR453 is a great gun. The 935 isnt bad but I'd go with the SPR453 because you could also shoot lighter loads with it.

I was were you are last year and got the SPR. I liked the idea of supporting Mossberg, but I found the 935 poorly balanced. I also found nothing but good reports on the SPR. If I had to again I'd still get the SPR.

I've shot a Mossberg 935 for the past three seasons without any problems or complaints. They stand by their lifetime warranty. Thats how I got the 935, as a replacement for an older gun they no longer made parts for.

I have the Mossberg 835 (pump), it has been a great gun, I have never cleaned the darn thing, it is my backup gun now, I got an SBE II. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone post about the Mossberg 935, but their have been a ton of posts on here about the SPR453, all good. So that should tell ya something.

To be fair I've never heard much bad from owners of 925s either. So good luck with making up your mind, lol.

Honestly you need to just hold up both guns and see which one feels best...to me now that you've heard good about both that's the most important factor.

Go with the SPR 453. Most Mossbergs are POS.

Why not the new stoger(sp)? It's just benelli's lower grade gun.

I'm not sure if you are joking or serious. But just in case you are serious it's a bad idea to compare a stoeger to benelli.

Remmy !!!! The Mossberg 935 has plastic parts in it. These same parts are steel in the Remmington SPR 453. I've had an SPR for almost 2 years now and after I got it broke in, it eats anything I feed it.

I do like the Stoeger though. The biggest difference is the gas vs inertia systems. The inertia systems kick alot harder but cycle the lighter skeet loads better so its a trade off. I hunt ducks with mine mainly so I appreciate the recoil reduction with the 3 1/2 mag loads and 3 1/2 buckhot.

Well there you go. Something else to think about. I thought it shot 3 1/2 inch also. Thanks for the clarification.

stoger is a benelli company and WHY do you have to shoot 3 1/2 shells?? I hunt W/ jj, (SOMETIMES!!) and he shot those low brass 2 steel 6's (dove loads) and was smoking ducks!! I shoot a SBE II and never shoot anything bigger than 3" for ducks, Save your money on those 3 1/2" shells and get them closer.

Why shoot 3 1/2" shells? Because they don't make 4".

I think I'm leaning towards the SPR 453.

Thanks for all the input, fellas.

I'd say the debate over 3.5" shells should be saved for another thread...just review the hundreds of threads that have discussed it in the past on this forum or any other. If someone wants a 3.5" gun they have probably already made up their mind on it...in this case the OP is pretty specific...one gun or the other.

As for stoeger and benelli being owned by the same company it really doesnt matter. There are a lot of bigger companies out there that own several smaller companies that make similar items but it doesnt mean they are the same. Anyone following such an assumption is making a pretty basic mistake. It's almost like saying why not buy a Chevy Aveo...they are made by the same company (GM) that makes the Cadillace Escalade. Both cars will get you where you want to go...why pay more for the cadi?

My bias for the 3 1/2 inch shells lies in the fact that Im a very poor shot. I need all the pellets in the air I can get! lol Seriously though, I shoot 3 inch for ducks and dove, 3 1/2 inch is overkill for these guys IMO. I use 3 1/2 inch shells for buckshot mostly...18 .33 cal pellets in a 3 1/2 inch and they still move at around 1325 fps. I really like that.

Talking about companies' products being different, the SPR is a russian made gun (Baikal) with a Remington stamp on it...I still love the gun.

It's a good thing too because I would never recommend any Remington 3.5" semiauto. They have not made one worth a crap yet. They make a good pump though if you like that sort of thing.
