686 is a fine pistol, I've had the 6 inch, and currently have the 3 inch TALO and a 4 inch. Anything over 4 I carry in a cross draw, keeps it out of the way when hunting and getting in and out of the vehicle.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

When I want leather, I look to El Paso Saddlery first. They don't always have exactly what I want, but the selection is good and quality is first class.

Ive carried a 6" 686 in Safariland "Hunter" for about 30 years. Solid holster. I think they make Bianchi, or may have it backwards. Congrats on a fine pitol!

You can get some phenomenal deals on duty holsters if you check ebay. A lot are new old stock from some real quality leather workers, but the 4" is more common. I have the 686-4, the 7 shot version. IMHO the finest revolver ever made.

Love 686. Take a look at this galco holster. The leather strap goes on your belt and the holster slides down in it. I really like mine. Madrid good strong leather http://www.buyholsters.com/galco-wheelgunner-belt-holster
I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

I carried one for years in a Safariland Border Patrol holster. Then they made us transition to Glocks.

I'm planning on carrying at the ranch, and maybe once in a blue moon openly. So I'm thinking the shoulder holster is the most concealable. But if I could find a cheap or reasonable duty holster rig, that might make more sense.

I just ordered a custom made paddle holster and avenger style holster. These are hand made by B&B Holsters. Look them up on Facebook. $65.00 each. Very nice

I don't have a picture of my 686 in its holster, but here is a Model 18 in the same model Field Holster from J.W. O'Rourke.
