I like that Patrol model a lot. Very cool. Will be interested to see the accuracy.

Don't know how accurate that is that they have already been shipped to a gun store. I have a friend that is a sales distributor and will be pushing these into most of the gun tires in the Texas and Oklahoma area. He works for a third party company that sells Vortex and just about all the big name companies to the smaller gun stores. He told me 2 weeks ago that they won't be in stores until after SHOT show.

I will be at shot in a couple weeks and will see what they have on display. The guy swears he saw the dealer pull it out of the box to log it into their system and those pics are right after it was unboxed...Could be a clever photoshop. SHOT will tell me for sure...

The biggest ditributor in the nation doesn't show them in inventory yet. I would imagine that these won't be available till after SHOT show.

I'm not terribly impressed, but it might be ok for a range/plinking gun. Based on the info and pics from the link, putting "patrol" in the name may be a bit overly optimistic.

Wonder how the trigger would be. That's my biggest gripe with AR's, the stock triggers are usually awful.

From the website, you can also see it in the picture. Product Description "Pack all the features and upgrades you expect from a Savage precision rifle into a single platform and you have the all-new MSR 10 Long Range. Chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor or 308 Win., it is built on a compact frame with a non-reciprocating side-charging handle. Its BLACKHAWK!® AR Blaze™ two-stage target trigger and Magpul PRS® adjustable buttstock optimize the inherent accuracy of the upgraded Savage barrel, which features 5R rifling and a Melonite QPQ finish."

Because no way is a hunter going to put an optic on top and want to benefit from a side charging bolt. At any rate, with a market already flooded, I'm with Charles, "I don't see the point". I think they would have been better served in improving their bolt action extractor and ejectors. And offer the Model 42 (revamp of the 24) in a couple more options. But, hey, I don't work for them.

There were lots of sports cars on the market, but Chevy brought back the Camaro-what was the point? The point was to offer a product to YOUR customers in a niche that you didn't already offer. MSR sales are still strong despite the flooded market-there are a LOT of people that still haven't accepted/converted that are waffling everyday. How many of them are already Savage owners?
