I shot one just like the one in the pic's above 3 shots from a .243. and 3 shots from a 30.06, to put him on the ground, and a final .243 to the behind the ear to finish it off. I guess these hogs are tougher out here. But that one was on the run, not sitting still feeding. I think i'm gonna just use the 150gr bullets i have, there not that much difference between the 30.06 and the .270 shooting the 150gr.

I had a hog lease once. WE were suppose to have deer also, but we were overrun with hogs. My father and I killed 62 hogs in one deer season just using our rifles. I was shooting a remington PSS .308 sniper rifle and remington 150 grain core loks. I shot so many hogs, sometimes we would get two for one under the feeder and nail another one once after the shot crossing the road. Sometimes I would nail them right behind the shoulder, hog would drop squeal, kick, get up and run. I would also shot them in the ear/neck area. One day I nailed a 175# or so boar in the ear area. He dropped like a rock. I just got out of my stand and went to get the truck and guess what; he was long gone. Another time right at dark, I had a huge hog, who's belly looked like it almost touched the ground come out at about 40 yards. Put the crosshair right behind the shoulder, fired the hog just took off. We did'nt find any blood, nada. Sometimes, We found out they just don't bleed out. My dad one day around noon was working on his feeder he though he saw a calf down the road, but upon looking some more it was one huge blond looking hog. He grabbed his .270 and when the hog was looking toward him put the bullet right between his snout and forehead. He said the hog kicked fell over backwards, jumped up and took off running. We followed the hog tracks and a little blood for probably a mile. We crawled through some dense youpon thickets where the light almost faded, with nothing, but a 10mm glock in my hand, but never did find the hog. Where he shot the hog, we found pieces of skull, hide, blood. Never did find that big boar. I was shooting the 150 grain spire points, they sometimes would'nt exit, but they left a mess. You just never know when your dealing with wild hogs!! sometimes they drop like a rock and next time they drop then run like they are on fire!!!
