A gun is just a gun, until you take that first wild animal with it. After that, it's as if you now have an emotional bond with that well machined piece of metal and wood. It's a feeling that no non-hunting person would ever understand and might even call foolish. It points to why history has shown than some men even went so far as to name their trusty firearm as a way of recognizing it's value to them.

I experienced it earlier this week after taking a buck with my new Weatherby .270. It will never again be just a gun, but the key component in truly memorable experience.

Guns are tools and nothing you do with them changes that for me. But having that tool given to you by somebody you treasure can change that.

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend.
It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

I pretty much agree with this. Yes, I do have guns that I value more than others, some of it has to do with the fact that they were the two deer rifles I hunted with for over 20 years but it wasn't because the first animal shot with each made it so but more for all the deer taken with them over the years that made it so. And as stated before...they are tools.

Everyone's different. Most of my customers feel a connection to their custom firearms. It's no different than a classic car or other similar object.

There are reasons to hate certain rifles---I've had a few of those. There are also reasons to love certain rifles, too. Fortunately I've had a few of those also. Sentiment isn't rational, but it is real.

as for my main hunting rifle, I do feel a bond with it cuz it, we, have taken animals with it
