Is there anyone in DFW (prefer Dallas) known for selling military surplus rifles??? I remember someone saying there is a place in FtW but I cannot remember who and where it is but I'm curious if they are the only ones.

Caddo Mills is east of Dallas on I 30, between Rockwall and Greenville. The Ammo Depot is right off of I30. Easy to find, and good people to deal with.

You go there too, huh? I work a block away from there. They usually have pretty good deals.

I just ordered a Nagant online from AIM......$90 delivered!!! They and J&G have good ammo prices for it too but I went to Military Supply in Ft W and they have the rounds for about the same price as me buying online and shipping.

Mostly looking for ammo. My interest in MILSURP rilfes FAR outweighs my knowledge. But it's fun to look.

I wouldn't whiz on CTD if they were on fire. Come to think of it, I wouldn't get within a half mile of them if they were on fire!

Same here!!!! I'd destroy my guns if they were the last place on earth. They lost me when they started screwing everybody as harshly and swiftly as they did.

Yep. Also, I don't recommend buying milsurp rifles, unless you have a lot of room in the safe. I know it is a cliche, but you can't buy just one. Before you know it, you will have half a dozen Nagants, a couple of Mausers plus some British and Swiss rifles thrown in for good measure.

Hmmm, an excellent point there! Just re-traded my Mosin tonight, and got it in part because I have an Arisaka. And was about to get my next SKS, and looking at the Mauser collector grade pieces too. Better stop now. Maybe I need to pass on my Arisaka, and break the habit.

Yep, old milsurp's are like welfarites. They just keep on increasing.

X2 on that! It's funny how fast your interest turns from the uber-modern semi-auto Black Rifles and focuses on the old, battlefield-scarred, foriegn bolt actions. The cartouche becomes all-important. If the same model rifle is made in a dozen factories, you HAVE to have one from every factory; even though they are basically the same rifle.

Me? I can hardly wait to take a deer with my 1916 Peter the Great commerative Mosin. Bayonet attached, it's almost 6' long and close to 100 years old.

My only word of warning is about buying these rifles unseen via mail; it's almost like throwing your money up in the air and taking whatever falls from the sky. I may inspect 30 rifles before I buy one. $70 for a piece of junk is money wasted. $130 for a good rifle of the same ilk is money well invested.

I have one Mauser 98K...bcd4 non matching numbers...

All stamps are intact and nothing ground/buffed off.

I reload and shoot it and enjoy the unknown history....

The stock was varnished by my grandfather, where the rifle was passed on from...
All original other than the wood refinish.
Used JB Bore paste on the barrel and got the dark bore shiney again. Shoots real nice.

My favorite bolt action shooter is a 1945 laminated stock M44. It took a whilke to get all the cosmo out of the bolt and I spent some time adjusting the firing pin spring so it was easier to load the firing pin (how's that for getting around the automatic censor?) but when it barks, people listen. It has a very distinctive boom and sports a tongue of flame up to 2 feet out of the barrel. From a kneeling position, it shoots 1" groups at 60 yards. I was going to take a doe with it last year but I got carried away with my AR and took both my does within 10 minutes of each other.

The best part is when I let someone else shoot it. If they aren't ready for a steel buttplate launching a 180gr bullet, the look on their face says it all.

I love my M44 as well. Something about having a flamethrower with a bayonet attached to the end is just awesome.

I picked up a M38 last weekend but work got in the way this weekend so I haven't shot it yet. Since it is 1.75 pounds lighter than the M44, I am sure it will kick just a bit. Now if I could just find a 91/59 carbine to go with my other two.

Sounds like one of you guys needs to buy my Finn M-39 M\N or trade me a good semi-auto pistol for it. I got pics in the classifieds forum and everything!

I saw that rifle. I like the way you smoothed up the stock. Your ad doesn't say anything about the condition of the rifle, the condition of the bore, if the bore is counter-bored, or if the serial numbers match. It's hard to judge a MILSURP without an obscene number of pics.
