Headed out that way Thursday. Misty rain slowed deer activity?

Rumor is that the bucks are starting to rub and scrape a bit, but haven't turned into foolishly behaved gladiators......yet.

Pigs moving?

Any news?

My dad was down last weekend and saw bucks making scrapes and licking branches. They were not chasing does but I would think this weekend should be good! They got a couple of turkey and a big hog.

Thanks for the update. Let's hope the heat stays down this weekend.

Forecast says a high of 87 for Saturday. It won't matter if the rut is on though. I'll be there this weekend too - 350 acres between Freer and San Diego

Edit: hogs are always moving, those b@astards

I just saw a front may hit late Saturday. Deer may move out ahead of it....

One problem we all may have is the moon...

Also, anyone have any luck doing any rattling this time of year? I've had some decent luck in the hill country banging around some horns right before the rut fires us...

Last weekend I saw younger bucks moving around and pestering the does. Haven't seen the big boys yet. They moved in the drizzle and fog. It didn't seem to deter them at all.

Didn't see any rut activity, and neither did our neighbor. Only saw does and spikes....I guess it was the 90 degree temp on Saturday and the 40MPH winds on Sunday.

Our ranch is south of Benavides. Saw mainly young bucks last week, definitely some chasing going on. I'll be back down this weekend, hopefully the big boys are out!
