All that sounds great until you get to the part where you've been on the place 3 years and "have not killed a deer yet".... There are no culls on the place? What do the guest hunt? What would be the minimum size buck you could kill if that 150 10 pt wasn't big enough?

Rick, your questions are valid.

Our Lease Rules state - "Only does, spikes and bucks with 8-points or better may be taken off the Lease property. It is recommended that bucks be mature enough to have approximately a 14" inside spread (the outside edges of the horns should be even with the outside tips of the ears for typical widespread racks) or a very tall and massive "Top-Hat" rack, before being taken. We are trying to “game manage” the Lease as much as possible (for such a small lease) to work towards having good bucks for our future hunting."

The lease member that passed on the 150" 10pt already had a 160" 11pt on the wall. I personally would have taken the 150" 10pt. if I had the opportuninity.

The rest of the deer passed on has been by personal choice of each of the existing members. We decided to pass on the does as well to help build the herd back on the property after the fire.

In regards to what guests can kill...once again from our Lease Rules - "Although Brown County has a per person limit of five (5) deer per year of which two (2) can be bucks, because of the small size of this property, each member will be limited to a three (3) deer limit of one (1) buck and two (2) does, which can also include "guest" deer (buck or doe). NOTE: "Guest" deer will be allowed only when a member "gives up" one of his own personal limit of deer to allow it to be killed by his guest. “Guest” deer are not in addition to a members' limit of 3 deer.

We plan to give the young "cull bucks" a hard look this year as we haven't seen any mature "cull bucks". Rick, at what age do you consider a "cull buck" ready to be taken?

Our existing group would rather harvest a real quality buck or no buck at all. We have all killed real trophies elsewhere, so unless it is bigger and better than what you have already taken, what is the point? This area is not overun with deer, so we are being very cautious about what is taken.

The killing part is easy...the hunting for a real quality buck on a small lease is the hard but fun part.

I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks,

Wild Bill 49

We don't have any rules against bringing "kids" or spouses other than as shown in the Lease Rules below. But we do expect them to hunt with their dad or spouse when they come as a hunting guest. Are you looking for them to deer hunt WITH you in the same stand?

From our Lease Rules-

Deer hunting guests are not allowed during deer season until after the third (3rd) weekend of the "gun" season. Only one (1) guest per member allowed per visit during deer season, unless special conditions apply, such as no other lease members present, then (2) guests will be allowed in one visit.

Minors and spouses will be allowed as guests provided that all other members are notified that a minor or a spouse will be present when the other lease members are to be present. Non-hunting guests are always welcome as sleeping accommodations allow.

Guests will be allowed to bird hunt for dove and turkey as follows:

a. One(1)guest per member per visit for Fall turkey.

b. Two(2)guests per member per visit for dove and Spring turkey as accomodations allow.

I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks,

wild bill 49

I apologize for the delayed response. Yes, we filled the 2 lease spots and I forgot to go back and make this new post stating that the lease has been filled.

This entire post is ready to be deleted, but I cannot find a way to do so.

Thanks,

wild bill 49
