So I was hunting public yesterday morning. The only vehicles at the boat ramp were a pickup and boat trailer and a pickup with a small closed in box trailer with a duck call company stickers on them. Im pretty sure it was a local guide service I won't name. Just curious what all the shooting more than an hour before legal was all about? It was pretty frequent within that hour before you can legally discharge your firearm!

Maybe. They must have sat down right in the den then and been under seize by snakes for an hour strait. Either way the game warden is aware and has photos of their vehicles/plates!

Discharging a firearm in the dark (prior to lst) on public waters is reckless and dangerous to others in the area.and according to the game warden illegal!

Which lake were you set up on and a general location of the spot? I'll kick a few tires and see what I can find out.

Did you see anyone speeding and call them in on the way home? Asking for a friend.

They and I know who they are. I thought it to be extremely unprofessional for a guide service to act with such recklessness whether they were guiding or not. But from what I'm hearing from others so far it doesn't surprise me.

I've found that drivers with DU stickers are 98% more likely to speed than drivers with Delta stickers.

Does the lake border private property??? maybe a feeder with a hog light and having fun LEGALLY. or maybe walkin hunters acting a fool and you are blaming it on someone who had their truck and trailer at the ramp. That would be like me signing my name on a wall i just put grafitti on. I could see you protesting with a sign. GeezMan Id do some research before you call someone out on such a serious offense.

That would be like me signing my name on a wall i just put grafitti on. I could see you protesting with a sign. GeezMan Id do some research before you call someone out on such a serious offense. You are entirely correct sir, my sincerest apologies if I have falsely implicated anyone. There were no other hunters out that morning that I saw.. I came from private property that borders the lake by kayak. I was really close to them when I was startled by the shots and I have no idea in what direction they were shooting and it could have been me getting shot, so yes I'm a little pissed about that carelessness. I chose to turn around instead of risking a confrontation in the dark. I could hear talking and shooting and it wAs certainly shotguns but could not see anyone because it was way too dark.. After that I drove by the ramp to see who was there and then proceeded to the next closest access point to salvage my hunt. There was no one at that point at all. If I have falsely implicated anyone then you have my apology. I just feel it's very dangerous to be shooting that much in a public lake prior to daylight. That's how accidents happen. I'm not here to be a jerk, because this is a fun sport we share in common. I would prefer to be meeting new people and making new friends. So again I apologize for assuming who it may have been. I will let it go from here and if you ever run into them in the future I'll consider them a friend. Happy hunting and be safe out there

even an hour before shooting light, you cannot see. so I can assure you that they weren't shooting ducks.

I just can't pass on this. I think the shooters were probably trying to throw off the Kayak paddling boom scouters. Draw them in to a cove that hasn't had a duck in it since the 60s and power away to a super secrete honey hole. Those guides can be cunning.

Well they do spend their days tricking birds into places they don't want to go, so your hypothesis sounds pretty good

Not red handed, but they are going to be keeping an eye on them in the future! If I come across it again I'll be rolling video!
