I've been hunting Grapevine COE land, and I'll tell you, I haven't had much luck. There are hog signs everywhere, but damn if I can find them. I've baited, I've stalked, I've done pretty much everything I can think of with no luck.

I'd like to start hunting Lavon COE land, but geez, its a huge area, and I'd like to know if anyone could tell me a good place to start. I'm not looking for someone to give their spot away (although feel free if you'd like), but if someone can just give me a general idea of where to go, or where to park. What road should I be on? North side, west side, south side of the lake?

Any info would be great to get me started.

Thanks.

I am not sure exactly where, because I do not get the chance to hunt there. But, have heard that the hogs are really bad by the dam off 78, by the Trinity River. I have seen them dead on the side of the road. Go through there all the time. You will probably have to do some scouting there though. Good luck.

You can hunt archery at Lake Grapevine or Lewisville through Army Corp of Engineers. You have to go to their offices for a permit. Must have hunting license also...

North of Farmersville. There's a hog waller about 20 yards wide and 400 yards long. They've torn up a pipeline right of way something fierce. It looks like there are wild onions growing and they are only eating the green sprigs off of the top of them. I found that spot about 6-8 weeks ago and talked to the landowner next door. He said they'd just tore it up the 2 weeks before I was there.

Anywho, the north east fork, north of Farmersville is where you want to start looking. Stop in and talk to Matt Falkner with the COE office. He's a good dude and will tell you where they've been seen lately.

and you need a Corps permit to hunt anywhere on Corps land at Lavon. Here's their website page for hunting.
