Drop the arrogance...the biggest percentage of the audience are probably just as knowledgeable as you are but don't have the deep pockets or a buddy with deep pockets to put on a show. Don't go some place to hunt, advertise the website of the place that you are hunting, and tell me how affordable it is. I have looked a lot of these up and they either cost a lot to get to or cost a lot to kill. Teach me something. Don't go somewhere that is managed and the owner knows where "the big guy is hanging out". Show me how you approach hunting a new area, what to look for with topo or aerial maps. And remember, it's not always a bad show if you don't kill something. Oh, and keep the loud, obnoxious new age music to a minimum.

MLB usually does good job of showing the aerial map of the location, wind direction, predicted deer movement patterns and their stand location. and they don't always make a kill, I think Matt Duff went all of 2014 without killing a deer and had 4 misses, all of which were shown on the show. the misses did nothing to take away from the show at all either.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

You have to show misses as they are part of hunting. I find that we actually make more mileage out of a miss than a clean kill that went totally as scripted. The hunter who has not missed an animal has not shot at many. Adios, Gary

My honest advice is there are already way too many whitetail hunts and shows on TV already - and the last thing we need is more. No kidding. It isn't exactly high adventure watching someone pop a deer from a stand.

For the most part, I dislike hunting shows. A feel like on some of them I have to drink a 6-pack of red-bull to get that crazy about what they are doing. Hunting for me is far more enjoyable when its kept simple and enjoying being in nature and outdoors. There is so much more to it than using the latest gear and bagging that trophy buck.

We are starting to film our hunts hoping to turn them into a show one day. With all of these hunting shows on tv what are things you like and don't like about them? Any feedback is appreciated. I like realistic shows that show real world hunting conditions and not just on some high prices farm land. I also like truthful aging and scoring. Gets old seeing them say a 130 inch deer is a 150 inch deer. I am also not interested in any show that has hunters passing up 155 inch 5.5 year old deer on a regular basis. That just pisses me off.

Don't know what else needs to be said about the hunting shows. I stopped watching them long ago. Too many commercials and not what the average hunter will experience.

I will add that although I do not mind and occasional "watch the young kid shoot a doe" show I do not want a full diet of it. I tune in to learn about serious hunting.
well now OP, this thread should make you feel optimistic! lol

I guess I'd have to take one for the team and miss deer on purpose. The price you'll pay for a successful hunting show I reckon

Hey, put me on as a guest. I'll shoot and miss and then look all surprised that the deer did not drop in it tracks. I'll say, "I don't know what happened. This is a brand new gun and the guy where I bought it said he had bore sighted it in for 200 yards. I carried it carefully in the solf case in the back of my pickup with all of my other hunting gear. I know my shot was only 50 yards and I shot through a lot of thick brush, but all those limbs and twigs should have not effected my bullet that much. You must be a bad guide and put me in a spot where nobody could have killed a deer."

As an adult I know what I'm about to watch when I surf the tube. That said, watching another close up of a guns safety being clicked off is about as mundane as it gets. The words "smoked him" is getting old. Especially after a to far back hit. But I'd rather watch the horn porn than Hillary or Trump. If Sanford and Son are on no horn porn either But anything with hot chick on and my interest perks up. If the "The Crush" is about to come on....I'm staying tuned in for Tiff, not Lee

The music. It is some form of death metal rock or the host mistakenly thinks he is a country music singer. Management buck. My cat knows more about deer management than most of these guys. Just say we are shooting the little one because no big one came by. Gotta fill the freezer. They shoot a deer or two every week, are they feeding a tiger? How much meat do they need?

What I dislike about shows:
Camo face paint People acting a fool after they shoot an animal Too many of these hunters take bow shots that are too long. Then you hear "I hit him a little back". Truth is, the jack wagon shot the animal in the hind quarters.

Don't know what else needs to be said about the hunting shows. I stopped watching them long ago. Too many commercials and not what the average hunter will experience. Yep I agree. Most of the stuff I watch is on YouTube. It's much easier to skim to what I want to see, find fresh videos, share with others. It's just better all around. And you can get to see new people making shows on YouTube every week. TV is way to expensive for those that produce those shows and you have to bow to what the stations say and hope for a good viewing time.

Didn't read the whole thread, so probably already mentioned. The music....Often the wrong mood and almost always too loud..

In agreement with almost everything already mentioned.
I don't feel like enough of these shows even attempt to teach you something, they're mostly just "look at me and my dolled up wife" stuff that as said are trying to portray something that most of the audience will never be able to do. They're hunting big high fenced and managed ranches and bagging these huge deer in a matter of a couple of days. May as well leave the ear tags on some of these things.
Idk, I'd rather watch a show with a guy explaining different methods and educating while shooting his 130-140" deer vs. what I seem to always see on 95% of the shows.
Also, please don't do these cheesy panning time lapse shots that these clowns CONSTANTLY do to try and look artsy fartsy and take the damned mfg. stickers off the guns.
