I helped a fella at Wal-Mart last night to insure my License was done correctly. He was new to issuing hunting license and was very appreciative of the input. I took the time to explain everything and we both had a chuckle or two....it's the way business should be; Honesty and a taste of Humility.

I got mine yesterday at the Lufkin TPWD LE Office, had to take my VA letter in to them so my Super combo was free,but I still buy the APH and FEDERAL Duck Stamp.
When did it become a requirement to have a DL's or State issued ID to buy a hunting license??

Annnual Public Hunting permit allows one to hunt certain properties leased by the state for public hunting. Rules vary by location. HIP is a migratory game bird take survey. The clerk asks you how many of certain birds you killed last season and you lie and say "thousands, yeah I'm that good." It's kind of an exit poll for bird hunters. The data is purely subjective, absolutely useless, and a waste of time, effort, and money.

edited to add: I once made a young lady at a Wal-Mart counter cry by telling her there would be no more dove seasons because I'd just killed and eaten the last two.

Picked up my Super Combo and Federal Duck Stamp a few days back at the local Academy. I didn't have much of a hunting season last year due to my commitments to Uncle Sam so I'm looking forward to getting out a lot this year.

A few years ago when I was still in the service I went to Academy to get my Super Combo and stamp. The clerk was new but I just go in expecting this now days so it wasnt a big deal. At the time the license had just become free for active duty. I had to go through one line and pay(for Federal Stamp), then take my receipt to a different line and get the license. We went through the process, the Hip cert and all. She was obviously new and confused, but I kindly told her what the Hip cert was for. It took quite a while so I was skimming through the new years outdoor manual they always have there. She finally says she finished and hits enter or whatever. Next thing you know all kinds of crap starts printing out and the register has a total of thousands dollars. Somehow when I was giving her duck totals for then previous year she managed to order me that many duck stamps lol. I was a little irritated because it seemed like I could have payed there after all but all I could do was laugh. Manager had to come and void over 100 stamps...took forever.
I guess you can order extras for collectors

I like doing it online, makes it easier to enter the drawings for the hunts on the WMA's and a few of the Big Time Texas Hunts.

I got my Super Combo and a case of Rio Game Loads last night at Academy. Fastest license experience I have ever had. There were no lines and they actually had to call someone over to the license table for me after paying at the register. This was at about 6pm. I was really surprised.

Next week is when you're going to see lines at the license tables as everyone waits until the last minute to get their licenses and shells.
