Just curious...Do all of you boycott Walmart since they don't sell handguns anymore?

Was discussing with my BIL yesterday (Big pistolero and gun enthusiast). He says they got 'em. They just don't have 'em out. You have to ask.

Kinda a C.S. way to run a business, but it IS their business.

The move was said to be out of respect for those who were killed and injured in the Islamic terrorist attack in Orlando where the shooter used an AR-15 style rifle to carry out the attack.

Breitbart Texas visited two Academy stores in the Houston area and verified that store employees were directed to take the rifles down from the display shelves. The rifles were stocked in locked racks under the display shelves and were readily available if a customer wanted to look at them or purchase them.

One store employee told Breitbart Texas he did not know if the policy was temporary or if there were any plans to discontinue the sale of the AR-15 style rifles altogether.

Yelp what I figured academy has a lot of FL stores. I get it

The policy of hiding them and yet still selling them only makes them hypocrites! As long as this policy is in place I will not do business with them.

Their ad flyers are designed months in advance. They have to make up the a and order extra merchandise for the sales etc.. This ad was probably designed and written 6 months ago.

I don't shop Walmart for bigger reasons. I don't like the business, the stores and many of the people they attract. It's the closest store to me and I happily pass by it to spend my money elsewhere (even it it costs more which is typically the case).

Yep. But it's my money which, as stated in the Walmart example, I'll spend elsewhere.

Of course! If you are more comfortable in more upscale surroundings, away from the unwashed masses, then that is where you should spend your money.

But my question was whether or not the online bravado and bluster displayed on this thread extends to that other popular store who decided not to carry or display certain firearms (Obviously, due to pressure exerted from the left) a few years back.

Has nothing to do with upscale. My response was in return to your direct question about boycotting Walmart...

...to which I said I do not shop there for a few reasons, not just the people. So, yes I "boycott" Walmart. And other stores too. An earlier post of mine in this thread stated...

Rarely have I purchased from Academy and never has it been firearms or firearms/hunting related.

Not purchasing firearms from Academy was never due to having any issue with the store. It was merely they never had (or not at a price I'd pay) what I wanted at particular times. However, after their action in response to the Orlando shooting they landed on my "Do Not Shop" list along with Cheaper Than Dirt.

Never bought a gun from Academy, prices are usually good but the gun counter at my local one has 1 maybe 2 people working it, if you're lucky, and always people waiting to see guns.

Did they pull them off the shelf or sell out?

Academy Garland put the screws to me. I went in looking for an AR a couple of weeks ago...the Tuesday after the Orlando shootings. They had plenty in the back room, but you had to ask for them. They kept an inventory sheet on the counter of what they had. I opened the inventory sheet and saw the M&P15 for $699.95. I told the guy I wanted one and needed some optics. He did the paperwork...the manager finished the paperwork and verified everything. Then, they had the salesman take the AR to the register so I could check out. I had ammo and a few other items...no optics because they were out of what I chose. I got home and looked at my receipt. I saw that they charged me $899.95 for the AR, not the $699.95 that was on their inventory. I'm done with Academy.

I was standing at the end of the check-out counter where I couldn't see the cash register. They scanned the far end of the box. I wasn't really thinking about what the total should have been, especially with adding ammo and a few other things. Of course, once sold, you can't return it.

No, but for $216 you can raise a lot of hell with them about the price.

Simply take your receipt and see the department manager first to compare the price sheet with your sales receipt. They will refund the difference if there was an error.

So I was in academy here in San Antonio last night, the guy behind the gun counter said they are going to put the AR's back on display in a couple weeks. He told me that particular store will have them out by the end of next week. This was @ the Lockhill Selma and 1604 location.
