My dog Lady finally got her HR title Saturday at Northeast Texas! I say finally because it's been a long time coming and none of it was her fault. She should've had this title a year and a half ago but life and heat cycles got in the way. She ran as test dog in Finished on Sunday (afternoon water series). She did good on the marks but the blind was a little over her head. We know what we need to work on though. Anyway, we got it so now we step up to run with the big boys!

Thanks guys. The tests were very technical in my opinion. I really liked the tests but you don't normally see tests this technical in seasoned. They were still within the rules of the game though. I think what got most people into trouble was not challenging the blind. The water blind on Saturday was a pretty simple straight across the water blind but you had a cross wind blowing from the handlers right to left. Many handlers let their dog get way left of the blind and by the time the dog got close to the opposite bank it had winded the bird. The same thing happened on the land series except you had wind in conjunction with a hill. The wind was quartering down the hill. Once the dog got downhill then it winded the bird. Too many handlers were waiting too long to put their dogs back online. When they did stop the dog you could see the head and nose go up and in the direction of the blind. My dog took one cast on the water blind (I sat her about two-thirds to three quarters of the way across); she was about 18 to 24 inches upwind of the line to the blind when I sat her. I gave her a left hand back and she took the line to the bird. On land she had three casts. As soon as she started falling down the hill I sat her. I then gave her a left angle back. She took a good cast and held the line for a litte bit before she started fading back down the hill. I gave her another left angle back and she carried it for a little bit again. I was prepared to give her a left over if she didn't carry the angle cast very far but I didn't need to. By the third cast she was past the slope of the hill and pretty much on level ground. I gave her another left angle and she picked up the bird.

The finished tests were pretty brutal. It would take too long to explain them but you had to be on your "A" game in order to pass.

I was hoping to get my dog her Junior title this weekend but Waterloo canceled one of the runs because of lack of water.

She should get her 3rd pass this weekend and be 3/3. (knock on wood)

Thanks! We've gone 7/7 so far (4 started and three seasoned passes) but I'm not holding my breath now that we're in Finished.

yep, 3/3 and she was super on all her marks. Stayed in the water on the cheating water marks too instead of running the bank.
