Good looking tent
Issue is flat ground...not sure we had enough for a lot of tents like that.

I bet y'all could find a better spot, being you have to drive to hunt anyway the way I understand it.

Sleeping in the front seat takes some getting used to. I do it so well because it was my only option for three years of no break from work. I wouldn't recommend it without some practice, first. Remote start and heated seats?

Nah. Just a sleeping bag. The ignition is right there if it gets too cold.

Tent with a cot was very comfortable in '14. Lots of room for an old man's stuff. I remember that campsite well. I won't be bringing that tiny tent next time, I'm going with full-size comfort.

That was the old campsite. It was great, but the drive to the main hunting spots was kind of long. It would certainly do again if a spot like that was needed, though.

How cold does it get anyway? I think our sleeping bags are rated to 30 or 40 degrees F.
Any tent recommendations for 4-6 guys? Or just get one per person?

Any tent recommendations for 4-6 guys? Or just get one per person? I have seen in get down to 8* in 2nd season, but generally in the upper teens at night, depending what elevation you're at. I have also seen it stay in the 40's and get into the upper 70's in the day time. That is country you go prepared for anything, as it can change often in 20 minutes. My sleeping bags are usually 0ish degree, but most bring what you have, works fine if you bring a couple of extra blankets for layering and a foam bottom for the ground or cot, having safe supplemental heat can make a huge difference as well. As far as tents, that would be personal decision, but the one Creekrunner posted is a great tent, it is the Kodiak Canvas flex bow if I'm not mistaken in 10'x10', they also have a 10x14'. I had an old army general purpose tent we used for over 15 years, 18' across octagon, it was big enough for 6 guys and all the gear. You can still get them, but they are like outfitter tents and are expensive, but super well made. If you will be using a heat source, it is much easier to use for a group in a bigger tent IMO, less crap to haul up there.

For heat source in a tent/camper....we found out that my Mr. Buddy heater did NOT like the altitude/low oxygen. Not sure if the low oxygen sensor is what was causing it to barely work.

Best we found for less work at camp, was using propane bottles and a deerborn heater I pulled from an old house, bathroom size. We use it on low at night with plenty of vent, but cranked it up when everyone was waking up. Had a hose long enough to go under the tent flap, so the bottle was kept outside. We also tried electric with a large honda generator I had, it worked. Also had had a friend that just bought a wood burner for his outfitter tent, actually my favorite, because I like the pinon smell, but that comes with more camp work gathering wood, not a huge deal though.

Just get an Arctic rated (subzero) sleeping bag and not sleep in your base layers.

I would make someone a good a deal on the pop-up cabover camper ZK-315 & I took last year. Comfortably sleeps 2 people in separate beds. If you put it in the bed of a truck (we had it mounted on a 16' trailer), you could use the jacks to take it off the truck at camp & level it within minutes and just leave it set up on the ground to free up the truck bed during the hunt. Should fit in long or short bed (with tail gate down).
the weather is just too unpredictable to not plan for wide temperature and condition swings.

Years ago we had eight guys that hunted east of Platoro north of the Conejos river and camped around 9,00 ft and one of the guys was a army supply sergeant and cobbed onto a huge wall tent ( 14x30 ) that had two stove vents one for cooking ans one for heat. It took about 5 guys to put it up but we had plenty of room for cots and gear and was very comfortable. Did have to rake snow off a couple times but will remember that hunt the rest of my life.Wish I wasn't so long in the tooth or I would join you guys.

Just get an Arctic rated (subzero) sleeping bag and not sleep in your base layers. Those are great, I had a mummy bag one time I ended up giving away, it was too hot for me. Actually I traded him for the new 020* he brought, much better since I can stand the cold better than heat. Expect to burn a Franklin for a damn good bag though.

I'll have to look at what sleeping bag I have, but I was plenty toasty last year. I can't stand mummy bags, as I toss and turn a lot and a mummy bag restricts that too much. I'll look at the brand, but the outside of it has the material like a Carhartt jacket, and the inside is flannel. I prefer it much better over the mummy bag I've got. Edit: I found it... It a Magellan Outdoors bag. I wouldn't want to backpack with it, but if you have a base camp, its great. Magellan Outdoors Sleeping Bag

ZK, I have that one, or one similar to it, my favorite kind with those materials. Don't like the mummy for the same reasons. I have found that a 20-30* bag works fine if you have 2 and/or a couple warm blankets if needed, but I am cold nature'd.

I love that bag. Although it never really got real cold last year, I typically slept it a pair of gym shorts and even got hot a few times. The only time I got cold was when I first got into that cold sleeping bag each night

Hey man, getting into a cold bag is the best part LOL! And last year was plain nut's!! not the norm for sure. But that time of year, you just really don't know.
The year I went with my broke leg, it was 18* opening morning, got my bull and the rest of the season was in the upper 40's, low 50's at night and up to almost 80* in the day, took the elk about 10 minutes to head back higher, I was very fortunate.

"A cold-natured person is someone who more often feels cold than warm. Cold-natured people tend to be cold even when others around them are warm or when they experience higher temperatures." I always considered myself "hot natured" since I usually am wearing shorts and a t-shirt when others have long sleeves/pants and a jacket. Example of "cold natured" comes to mind when I think of a vehicle that runs rough or doesn't idle well when the temperatures are cold/cooler, meaning it doesn't like cooler temperatures. semantics probably.

Yeah PMK, got it twisted around, wife calls me hot natured because I am hot all the time, hardly ever use more than a sheet if that here. Of course she cant tell North from South either BTW, I bet you'd sell that camper, if you included a couple elk tags

Just buy a sleeping bag liner. It will add up to 25 degrees of warmth depending on the one you get at a fraction of the cost of a new subzero bag. Plus it keeps your sleeping bag cleaner. I have several different temperature rated ones and use them with all my bags. Just wash the liner when I am done. Keeps the bag smelling fresh a lot longer. http://www.seatosummit.com/travel-and-sleeping-bag-liners/

I'll cover the cost of a couple of elk tags with the sale ... but of course that cost will be rolled into the selling price of the camper
