My patterns at at 100 and 200 yds, are all over a sheet of paper. So I'm looking at a new scope which of the two do you reccommend or is there another I should consider too? (same price range)
The gun is a Remington 30-06 model 700

I can't tell a difference in the quality of either and I hate that the VX1 only has friction windage and elevation adjustments instead of click, BUT I chose the Leupold because of customer service.

Not a nickel's worth of performance difference. But, Nikon has terrible warranty service. Leupold is outstanding to deal with. Their forever warranty really means forever. As to the Burris, the ones with the free binos, etc are made in the Phillippines now. May not make a difference to you, but I will choose made in the USA any day.
God is so good to me.

They are both good. But Leupold rules! Good luck if you ever have problems with the nikon with customer service!

I'm leaning towards the Nikon I think, just because of the better price.
Which is better the regular crosshairs or the BDC (bullet Drop compensation)???... How accurate is the BDC???? seems to me like it would vary for each caliber and load.

I have a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 x 40 on my m700 30-06. And personally i like it alot. I have never delt w/ there customer service. but the scope was only 120 so ive meen happy w/ it. I like the BDC my loads are hitting 1" low at the 200 so i dig it. I could speed it up a little and narrow the gap but im ok w/ 1".
never trust a man that rents pigs....

Have 3 different nikon and all are great but again i havent had to deal with any service issues yet and theres nothing more frustrating than trying to talk to someone about getting your stuff fixed,
(Sig Pic to be no more than 125 pixels tall)

There is a reason Leupold holds the contract to supply the scopes to the US Military snipers.

I like the Nikon with the BDC. It seems to shoot very well on my .223 out to 300 yards. Good hunting scope IMO.

Burris is better for the money. Leupold milspec scopes are a different world from the ones he asked about. Nikon has about the worst customer support/service I have encountered in 24 years running a storefront.

I'm putting a Leupold VX II on my Remington 700 30-06, if I could I'd go with the VX 7, but I have other things to pay for... like... food. I suggest the VX II over the VX I since it has a different style of lense coating that helps gather light more proficiently, if you have those low light condition shots to take of course. It has a better eyepiece as well. I think the VX II is 100 bucks more than the VX I, but I could be wrong. Lifetime warranty? Can't go wrong with that!
