That's the 3rd one they found in the US. It's the only one still alive right now.

Only one they know about...They found this thing pretty north of the boarder, there are more in the southern Arizona area, especially around Douglas, where they've been caught before.

I think this jag made the news because there is decent video of it. AZ F&G has always warned mountain lion hunters about them. Jaguars are hard on dogs. A friend who is a caver and goes to real remote areas sent me a picture of a track about 10 years ago.

Mark How hard is it to tell the difference between a mountain lion track and a jaguar track?

I bet I could call one in. I've learned a few good cat calls, for bobcats anyway. Might get one in close enough for a shot before it sinks it's claws into the back of my head and rips out my throat.

You have to be really careful about sounding too much like a crocodile when you're in arizona or one of them bad boys may just up and off you.

Jaguars are much larger than a mountain lion, they can go over 300 lbs, although the ones in AZ are usually young and not that big. I believe it would be a very bad idea to try and call one in. I had a friend who worked at a big cat zoo, she said when cleaning enclosures they could , with proper precautions, go in with the lions, tigers, and leopards. Never with a jaguar, even those raised in captivity were zero tamed and would try and kill you.
