Called in 6 Bobcats this past Thursday and Friday. Biggest one was at about 11:45 am and came in to Canine puppies sound. Any rabbit or fast paced bird sound should work fine. Best advice I can give is make sure you are hidden well and sit still scanning the edge of the brush as they will usually get to the edge and watch so your decoy will be a good option.

First you need patience, lots of patience. Cats are slow movers, very slow.

Make sure you can see anything approach the Krakatoa and decoy and they should be as close together as possible. Get the caller a little off the ground just above the decoy if possible. I would not put the caller further than 30 yards away for Bobcats as they will not pay attention to wind. I would play sounds constantly for at least 15 minutes then maybe go quiet a minute then start up again for 10-15 more. That should get anything in hearing distance. I would also hunt about the same time you got the picture too if possible.

What the fellas said. I never used an "ecaller", they where not even made when I was real into calling, I made my own with a walkman radio w/ cassette player, amplifier and loudspeaker Redneck style, but it worked and still have it. Full discloser, most of my kills where by leg hold traps, as that was my "bread and butter" STS, calling was only maybe 40% of it for me. Would try that first for a target animal, then the traps came out. If I was targeting a cat, I almost always used a baby woodpecker, or other bird AND always stayed on stand at least 30 minutes. You will have to pass on fox as they seem to always come in fast to any call, but I have taken yotes and continued calling and still had a cat come in, so...Baby cottontail, as mentioned has also brought them in, but when yote calling, I was usually done in less than 15 minutes either to move ,or drt yote.

I have killed 6 cats in the 4 years that I have truthfully been calling and that doesn't count the other 6 the person I was hunting with missed the cat haha. Foxpro is the best I have hunted with. Hunted behind flextone western rivers and Burnham brothers and have not had near the success that I have had with fox pro so u are on the right track there. My typical set starts out with Baby Cotton tail played low volume to see if anything is close. After that it just depends on the night. If it's windy I will go with a high pitched bird sounds. Good night it end to stick with the rabbit distress sounds. Most of the cats I've called in have been with cotton tail duet at night. Only called one in during the day. Be patient just like they have said above. Good luck and post pics!!!!

I shot a big one over christmas weekend. Took nearly an hour for him to get close enough for a decent shot after first seeing him. Take your time and look for things that seem out of place. They don't move a lot in the open most of the time, but I've also called some that charged in like a coyote. I always feel more like an accomplished caller after calling one in with a mouth call. Good luck.

Cats in Central Tx always seemed to skirt the tree line and work downwind. Almost never coming all the way in to the call. Usually hanging up at a distance.

+1 what's been said above. Watch the edges of your areas, since most will hang up on the edges to watch. Yotes will normally come running in, but bobcats will approach in cover and stay well hidden. I've called a few in that hung up. Most of the cats I've shot were walking through the area without being called in when deer hunting. But's it's fun to call them in.
