lots and lots of water.. seen plenty of birds this year but post split has been better than normal

our places that use to be good but dry the last few years are holding birds once again

Last year limiting out pretty much every morning now I am lucky to get 2 or 3

Had a good day last week but most were ringnecks. Went to same spot a week later and took 3 gadwalls. Weather has been tough this year.

I have lots of places to hunt From Mineola, to Bonham, to Mineral Wells and all in between. Been the worst season for me in a long time. Averaged about 5 birds per person per hunt last year, and down around 1.5 per person so far this year.

seeing a dozen or two widgeon and mallards the last week at the tank by the house. Normally a good indication I need to go get a license

Well maybe I got a good sign this morning......worked last night and when I got home I saw south bound flock of snow geese fly over my house.........only about a dozen birds but at least its something..........
On a side note I talked to a coworker this morning that hunts just west of here on pools and small lakes and he usually does really well. He has nothing for the year............If he is hurting for birds its bad.............
