Most are, they see bright white probably as good as you do, use a red lens cover. Get one you can pop off if needed in a hurry.

I have been calling coyotes since the mid 70's and I would say yes, no and definitely maybe. I have used red, green and white lights. Some dogs would bolt at the faint glow of a red lens, I have also had them sit down and stare right at a white spot. I think most any light source can be successful, it kind of depends on the situation. These guys believe in white light, LOTS of white light. https://vimeo.com/144029852

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

If I'm calling with a white spot light I shine the horizon and use the halo of the light to see. When the varmint gets in range I hit him with the main beam to stop him.

Bar-D nailed it.... Every coyote/critter is different. Some will tolerate an enormous amount of light, some will tuck tail with a candle light....You just never know. I use white lights, for a few reasons. I can identify the animal much better and further, I can shoot better, I can judge distance better. If this makes sense, I would rather shoot a coyote at 150 yards with a white light than 100 yards with a red light. But to each his own. Whatever works for you go with it!

I believe it's not so much the light as it is the shadows from the light that effects them more. When using any light source movement discipline is a must. If you're shaking the light every shadow down range is shaking in their face and that is what spooks them. You can see this effect best when driving. Everything from a yote to a rabbit can't make up its mind where to run because the shadows are confusing them. If you talk to old timers, everyone of them used a dimmer switch on their spot light. And like scalebuster said, a lot of guys now just use the halo until target is set up. The reason is, the lower the light, the softer the shadows. While the yote is approaching, the soft shadows won't spook as easily.
Now with my ND3, I think it actually is the light source. I've noticed that when any animal is on a head on approach and I light them up, they will turn or close their eyes. But on a broadside approach they act as if it is not there. The ND brand lights are lasers, and emit a total different type of light.

I use both red and white on my rig. Use red when scanning and white for killing. Pretty effective system
