Fire in Coleman county, north of Talpa

Here are the details that I have so far...hope none of you have leases in that area, I know some people do though....

A grass fire has been reported by the Coleman Fire Department. It is presently located about 5 miles north of Talpa. 1000+ acres have burned on 5 different ranch compounds. No structures were lost. Cause of the fire has not been determined. There are 8-10 units from Coleman and Taylor County on the scene. With the wind blowing out of the North at 10mph, the fire will be moving south.

here is the link to the local paper that has some info & pics:

Honestly..with the bad drought..if it DOES burn, its not too bad cause when it rains.....whenever that will be...it will come back great & the animals will benefit wonderfully. But still...fires are not fun.

Its that season. I talked to some Forest Service guys in Childress yesterday. Told them I would probably be seeing them on the Fire line. Hope all are well.

its ok...im northeast of Coleman & that was west of Coleman

As of this morning, there are NO ACTIVE FIRES in Coleman County that the department is sending units to cover. There is a controlled burn near Rockwood that should be completed this morning. Also, the smoke seen in the north part of our county is a controlled burn in Callahan County.

See its so dry, even control burns bother me some.

MORE than LIKELY the cause IS lack of RAIN. Fire IS no good, THAT is for SURE.

B I L, fire is good if it doesn't hurt people or destroy property and you get some rain afterwars to green stuff up.

Some places down where I'm at, except for destroying some fences, fire's the best thing that could happen if I could get a good rain afterwards.

Losing stuff to a fire or tornado, or just thieves is never good, but fire can still be good for the land and the wild critters most of the time.

Sorry about the loss.

fire DID contribute to the fact that it burnt as bad as it did...wasnt the sole cause but a reason why it got so bad....high winds didnt help either
