Many hogs out there. My friend kills a hog on his place almost every time he sits in the stand. They killed one deer last season...some days he did not see a deer.
His place is 400 acres of solid woods surrounded by wheat and oats, so he thinks the hogs lay up on his place all day before going out in the fields at night.
Maybe a place that wasn't like an island would be better for hunting deer.

You'd be close to my area, yes there are lots of pigs but good numbers of deer also. Also have those "hidden gems"...big bucks no one has seen before & poof out one pops. Good predators & dove as well.

My brother works for a guy who owns The Lamb Ranch (he's actually selling it). It's in the Cross Plains area and there are some good deer in the area. Of course his place is high fence.

east of cross cut you will have good numbers of deer but might have less hogs...they will be around but not on plague proportions like some areas

I know a couple of different people of own land in that area. Good numbers of deer. Hogs seem to be hit and miss. One of my buddies kills them regularly. The other one has never even seen them on his place and he hunts 450 acres!
Our place is northwest of you about 12 miles. The hogs in our area seem to move around some. Last year, we killed a hog nearly every time we hunted. Killed around 20 last year. This year we only killed 4, three of those were opening weekend and they quit showing up on our cameras.
