Yes a coyote will eat most if not all the things you mentioned. A big raccoon would be tough for coyote to take down. A coyote could take down a small hog. It comes down to what is easiest and most abundant. If coyotes and bobcats only preyed on hogs then you might have a case. The fact is hogs are way low on the list of things a coyote will prey upon. Rodents being the easiest and most abundant followed by rabbits and birds. I do not have any scientific data to back my claim only what I have observed.

You guys are overlooking the obvious solution: Alligators.
Alligators will kill the everliving sh*t out of a hog, regardless of size. They just drag 'em in the water and drown them and eat them later. Just populate your hunting grounds with several dozen 10-footers, and you'll all be good to go.

I don't believe hogs are the problem people on this forum claim they are. If they were it wouldn't cost $200 and up per weekend to go shoot some under 125 pounds.

I think not hunting coyotes and bobcats would be more detrimental to the deer population than the hog population.
I've yet to see any evidence of Bobcats being detrimental to deer populations. I don't shoot Bobcats.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Sir, you obviously haven't gotten out much!
Like the rancher I overheard the other day in the restuarant said, "kill um all! You see one shoot it! Kill um all!"
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I say lets kill em all! Coyotes, bobcats and especially hogs. And we still will never be able to wipe em out. Chestnut, coyotes will eat almost everything, animals and vegatables.

If you raised sheep, goats and found all the fawn hides and bones left by coyotes you wouldn't even be having this discusion about not killing them. Also you would be getting rid of every coon and possum you could. Oh and throw in foxes there also.

Yes, of course, if you are a rancher you should be killing all predators. I was addressing my question primarily to non-ranchers who are concerned about hog over-population.

Bobcats can and do kill fawns.
My wife's only thing is it can't stare at her when she is eating or sleeping!
