I'm looking to get a 204, and would like some recommendations on what brand, barrel length (i.e. Is a 20" barrel to short?), twist rate, and other things to consider, etc. Thanks in advance.

Haven't shot it yet but I just picked up a Remington 700 SPS Varmint. I like it. Don't know the barrel length or twist.

you cant go wrong with a remington. The 700 sps Varmint is going to have a 26" bull barrel. I also have a TC encore and it shoots really well. I think that it is a 24" barrel and it will turn a coyote inside out. It is a great round and it is very flat shoting.

I have a Savage Model 12 in .204 with a bull barrel. Shoots great, but it is NOT a truck gun. Real hard to get out the window in a hurry and it gets to be a load to carry when walking.

I have the R-15 in .204. Getting a little pricey though. The gun is a blast to shoot and I have been getting some great groups. You can go through a ton of ammo. No recoil at all.

1/12 twist

Get a custom its worth every penny and you will be super happy with it because you get it everything exactly the way you want it. Plus they shoot amazing groups.

I have a .204 in Remington SPS Varmint. It is a tack driver right out of the box. My best 3 shot group so far can be covered by a dime. It is long and heavy so keep that in mind if it matters to you.

Thanks for the information. I know I'm going to lose some accuracy, but I would prefer a gun around 7 to 7.5 lbs, and a regular barrel. Has anyone shot the 204 in a Model seven with a 20" in barrel? If so, how did it shoot? Would the accuracy difference of a 20" and a 22" barrel be significant?

If I was to get one in regular barrel I would no doubt get a CZ 527. Best factory trigger ever!

That's a good looking camo job, Zaraspook. You could make some money doing that! I know I'd pay ya...

I've considered doing a few camo jobs to make some extra cash. I did this one with Duracoat.

I went to the range today to sight in my 204. I shot about 40 rounds of 40 grain Vmax and could not get a group better than baseball sized....
Went in to the range shop and bought the ONLY 204 ammo they had which was the same thing in 32 grain and whalla! Wasn't completely perfect but was getting quarter sized groups!
