Heading out this morning. Dang it is windy. Love to wait until tomorrow, but only day I can go this weekend. Good luck out there today. Hope we don't blow away.

They are running, even in the wind! Saw 2 mature bucks chasing does all over the field. One buck had lost his one side the other was just a beast but he was running way too fast. I didn't think I would see a thing especially after sleeping through alarm and getting to the stand by 7:30. It's game on.

X2. I saw absolutely nothing moving today. Not even anything on the camera.

Hunted this morning (Sunday), frost everywhere, no wind and didn't see a dang thing except 4 coyotes. Didn't the deer know it was the perfect morning to be out and about?

I'm starting to think this year will be just like last year. The rut comes and goes before our eyes. With the ample groceries on the ground no need to chase and run around looking for food. The acorn crop for the past two years has been so good that it literally kills the deer movement compared to years past where acorns were in very low numbers from the drought. I guess it's not a horrible thing though, because it's given some of our deer a chance to age and put on good antler growth, compared to years where we didn't have good acorn crops and great rains all year.

All the green and acorns is keeping them from the feeders. I have no clue what the story is with the Rut.

Hunter Sunday night and all day Monday. My son saw three does and I didn't see a deer. I heard from several people in Munster that bucks are chasing does. We didn't see the same thing. We drove around a little and did see any deer in the fields.

Well this was the first year in 3 that I actually witnessed the rut. Big bucks chasing does. Saw a big 11 chasing a doe on Sat morning in the high winds. Took my wife out sat evening saw a lot of activity. I decided to rattle and low and behold a young 8 came in looking for a fight. Funny story - I've been married 15 years and this was the first time my wife actually wanted to try and hunt. We went in to Bowie and grabbed a license and we were in the stand by 3:00. She was pretty hesitant about taking a deer. Especially after we saw a few does and yearlings cruising. She was asking me how could you shoot something to cute, look at em. I said just wait, hopefully we will see a buck and you'll see.

As she was glossing the field, she exclaimed holy f@$! there's a buck!!! Where's the gun!!! Sorry to tell her the buck while was an 8, he was too young. She was visibly shaking. We ended up watching him for awhile and then after he left the field. She turned to me and said, who the heck am I? I can now see why do this. This is fun!!! Hopefully she'll be my new hunting buddy!

Great story Noamtchance, sounds like she's hooked now. Hopefully the same happens to my girl the next four days, unlikely we will see much with the crappy weather on the way!

Just an FYI. Montague is a split season county for ducks. The season goes until 11/29 and then stops. Duck season opens back up on 12/12. We didn't make it to the field this weekend due to the rain. Hopefully the rain and cold weather kills of the acorns.

We got rained out so no one has been out since Monday. On Monday I hadn't seen anything and then at 9:10 a doe come zipping by the blind from behind and down a ridge towards feeder. I knew a buck had to be chasing her and sure enough an 8 was following her. She went into the pen and he stood watch. He tried to get on her but she jumped each time. This went on for an hour with him just staring at her. She bedded down between the blind and feeder and just stood watch. We finally left. Pretty cool though.

All my target deer have vanished off camera for the last few weeks, except for a new buck that literally had his face right on the camera. This is probably due too the pigs moving back in

Went hunting this evening, Monday, and saw an 8 pt. that was traveling and 4 does. Not bad but no shooters showing up.

In clay county I have seen the emergence of several young/illegal bucks and a couple spikes on my cell camera, but my shooters have been missing for a couple weeks longer than a few weeks. They usually vanish around the start of gun season, and that's about the last time I have seen them on camera. But, did see quite a bit of activity on the cameras yesterday and today compared to the weeks prior. We'll see if it
