Hi guys. I am mainly a waterfowl and rifle hunter and spend my time on this site on those threads, but I wanted to start learning to shoot a bow. I was looking into getting a starter bow and ran across this opportunity.

Browning Rage (he said 3-4 years old) with case, whisker biscuit, Toxonics sight, a dozen arrows, quiver, & stabilizer.

I am not sure about the draw length or weight. I am asking him.

All this for 225 shipped. Since I don't know much about bows, I thought I would ask for yalls help to see if this is a good deal, or if that bow is a piece of crap and isn't worth it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm no pro but, be careful. Used bows can be a good or bad thing. Your right to ask about the draw length and weight. If your not sure go to a pro shop, they'll tell you. Also ask how old the bow is. Will it need new string and cables? Bows can be fragile is not taken care of.
This does sound good enough to look into though! Good luck...

I would not go used. I would go with the Diamond Razor Edge.

Go new. Go get sized and pull a few bows. Remember get what feels good not what everyone else thinks you should get or what the price tag says. I did this after buying 4 bows over 15 yrs. Now I have the best bow I have ever owned.

Hogwash. I have bought a couple of used bows, and sold a couple. You have the chance to pick up a really good bow at a really good price.

On the other hand I'd like to know something about the used bow first - as in does it meet my own personal specifications, etc. I bought my son a used Outback, and not only does it shoot like a million bucks I made a good friend in the process - in Georgia!

although price is important it is not as important as the way the bow fits you. if you find a good used bow that fits you well go with it but on the other hand, if you buy a new bow and decide bow hunting isn't your thing then you are out that new price which can get pretty expensive. my set up alone cost $1200 w/ arrows and broadheads included but i got the bow that was comfortable for me after i tried some used bows and after i decided that i was hooked for life

If you can't be good be good at it!!!

North Texas Archery is premier. Ask for Fay Frigon.

Archery Talk Classifieds is the premier place to buy a bow. I could have bought 2 bows off of there for what I paid for my Switchback XT from North Texas Archery
