This will make you have a new respect for the 30-30!

It is a blast to shoot, and with a good rest it's fairly accurate. I'm thinking about trying some of those hornady lever revolution bullets in it next time I'm at the ranch. They just might do the trick.

I Hunt with a Savage Stryker in 7-08, with a 2.5 to 8x Weaver Handgun Scope on it. I have taken Deer up to 175 yards so far.

My Encore 7-08 15" barrel with a Bushnell Trophy 2-6x would do 3/4" at 100. That is the only barrel that makes me regret selling the whole setup.

Also, make sure you wear hearing protection shooting that 30-30, even while hunting. The 14" 30-30 nearly deafened me after two shots while pig hunting lol.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

I have a lot of weapons I intend to get a deer/hog with this year. If I get around to it ill be using a Ruger Blackhawk 7.5 inch barrel in 45 colt, throwing 240 grain sierra hollow cavities over a near max charge of IMR 4227.

It's hell eatin em live

That combination is damn hard to beat, carry mine in a cross draw that way you can bend and get in and out of the truck with no problem's.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.
