Drove out to Hamlin Monday evening to do a little work on the cabin and came back in yesterday evening. Hwy 380 through Jacksboro, Graham, Throckmorton, and Haskell and saw very few dove. Seemed to be plenty of feed, understandably it was hot and the few birds I did see were near water.
I had heard good things about the number of birds but I sure didn't see them.

I drove through Graham and Breckinridge today and didn't see many either. Sunflowers look great but no birds. I was at a funeral North of Sweetwater in Fisher County on Monday. I ate lunch with a bunch of farmers and they said the same thing. Plenty of feed and few birds.

A few weeks ago running Hwy 79 to Throckmorton I saw dove on both sides of the road, had to dodge a few. They're out there boys, you can have my share. Too hot for this old man to do dove.

Driving through the milo fields yesterday at about 6:30 PM I saw a tornado of doves. I have never seen anything quite like that so far as doves.

I should have seen more birds. I'm seeing 10 times more birds in the morning than in the evening. I wouldn't worry.

Normally the power line behind us, is sagging from all the dove perched on it. So far.......
We haven't seen squat.
No clue. Tank's are still relatively full and plenty of sunflower's.

I had heard good things about the number of birds but I sure didn't see them. There is so much feed and water around the area you mentioned the dove are everywhere. My opinion is there huge number of dove this year but they're spread out. As the farmers clean up the fields the numbers will be more concentrated around the milo and sunflower at harvest. Sounds like it will be a wet September so I am planning on hunting fields more than tanks. However, I've been wrong before.

Starting to see groups of 8-10 birds just west of Benbrook in the morning hours. Last few weeks, hadn't seen any flying.

I just spent a couple of hours on the tractor. Hand on heart I could have bagged 3 or 4 limits. Of course, unless I can sit in an air conditioned tractor there is no way this fat old man would not be out in this heat. The dove are around.

I'm seeing plenty around here in fields and on high line wires just not huge numbers. Like others have already said I think they are mostly spread out because of how much food and water they have this year.

I have a place in haskell.. Saw a few birds, nothing to shout about, I didn't stay past 6pm had to get back home. Saw a few white wings the majority of the birds were going into my pond for water. Haven't been out there in the morning , but will be the day after the opener.

Was in Midland area 2 wks ago and saw phenomenal numbers of dove. Specifically, I was at Windwalker Farms between Stanton and Midland. Those folks are going to have a great opener.

Driving 380 west to graham I noticed lots of sunflowers and overgrown fields. A few dove along the way. Our place sw of graham has the best sunflowers I have ever seen. Some still green. Lots of random volunteer maise and milo. Even a few mammoth sunflowers around a roost tree in the middle of the field. Dove weed is thick too. Several birds in the field in the afternoon. But the amout of food sources I noticed on the drive, I do think the birds could get spread out or easily pressured out to safer fields.

I am not going to be able to scout where I hunt in Haskell. Driving out 8/31, will be late when I get there. Place is pretty dependable, even in bad years.
They had some rain and owner has not sprayed fields so there are a lot of sunflowers
