If any of you guys have one what do you think of it? I think the ammo is exspensive and sometimes hard to find.

That is the worst wsm made. If you look around you can find some ammo at some walmarts. Save your money and get a 270 or 300 wsm. The 270wsm is comparable to the 7mag

I'd be curious as to your definition of worst. Least popular, yes. Worse? Based on what? The case capacity of the 7WSM is almost identical to the 270 WSM and there is .007" difference in bullet diameter. No game animal will ever know the difference.

Winchester ammo lists a MV of 3200fps for the 140 Accubond in the 270WSM and 3225 for the 140 Accubond in the 7WSM. At 400yds there is 0.1" difference in trajectory and the 400yd energy is 1810 vs 1812. How can one be "worse" than the other?

"Worst" to me, and this is just my outlook. Would be a magnum type cartridge that does not utilize the extra powder capacity to provide notable gains in velocity over an existing conventional round. Kinda like the 22 short magnum rounds vs the 22-250 and .220swift.

Don't take this as a dig against the short magnum stuff out there. I'm talking in generalities here. And not pointing at any one round in particular. I guess I pointed one out, LOL.

To me, it'd be like Ackley Improving a cartridge and only getting a 3-5% gain in velocity, when many others will net 10% or more. Just not enough gain to justify the added expense, time, and/or caliber specific ammo. Especially if there's something else out there that will perform better, and is more conventional.

But that's my outlook.

Personally, when I get ready for my next gun, I'll be doing a lot of research on the short mags. and in 7mm too. But I'll worry about that when the time comes.

I love my 7MM WSM Winchester Model 70.

Yes, ammo is harder to find and somewhat expensive but just buy it online. I got my rifle when the WSSM and WSM first came out. It fly's fast and hits hard with little recoil. I like rifles and caliber most don't have. I've taken many deer and hogs with no problems.

I suggest the winchester super x power point bullets.

Start reloading, there is more range of bullet weights than in the 277 cal., my 2 cents.
