There are lots of good ones. I use 22-250 but when I get radical and want to get close and quiet I gillie up and break out the Marlin bolt action tube fed 22 mag. I use a 3-9 X 40 VariX II and it is an absolute blast and tack driver.

22-250 is my first choice....... .223 second....... and in a pinch a .243 will do.

Thats is kinda like asking what is the best beer.....Every one has their own preference. I like to use a 204 ruger with a 40 gr v max or 243 with a 75 gr Acutip. All in all their are a lot of good guns, The 204 is by far one of the flatest shooting guns around, and it will turn a yote inside out.

If i was going to buy a new gun, i would prob look really hard at a 22-250, but i shoot a 243 using 58 grain v-max moly. The only reason i havn't bought a 22-250 is cause it would prob sit in my safe... can't seem to take the 243 outa my hands, too trust worthy. if you hit'em there gonna drop. just my .02

Leave'em where they lay

oh 6mm is great if you dont have anything else to use. LOL I use a 221 fireball 223 or a 22-250 unless I'm hunting with my boss. Alot of it depends, if your hunting in the day or night. Night time most your shots are around 25-30 yards. day time 25- 300 yards. 22-250 243 and the old 6mm are good during day time hours. You know stamford-6mmS gun would shoot in the same hole if he could shoot.LOL He's my boss.
