I did this last night. It was so easy and free. I was already thinking about taking the rifle to a gunsmith or buying an aftermarket trigger. No need now, I got it dialed in on my own, and love it!

What poundage were you able to get?

I don't have a trigger guage. I have a crude spring scale that fired at approximately 1 1/2 pounds after the adjustment. Before the adjustment it was firing between a very heavy 5 and 6 pounds...ridiculous! It's all better now though.

sounds good one word of caution a factory rem trigger at 1.5 in MOST cases is not safe. You might want to do some testing
1 with the gun unloaded take the safety off dry fire and lift the bolt and slam it down see if it is cocked.
2 open breech slam bolt shut and down in one motion several times to see if hammer will release
3 with safety off and gun cocked bounce the recoil pad or butt on the floor several times just trrying to make sure the gun will not fire when you are not ready I am sure you have done these things already just want everyone who might read this to careful have fun Buddy

That is good advice when adjusting those 700 triggers. The first one I did was a little too light and would sometimes fire when the bolt slammed home... Luck for me someone also told me to test it like bdotson is saying.

I appreciate the word of caution. The last thing we need is an accidental discharge, especially from an .06. I did not move the sear adjustment like the article said. I could not get it to bust loose, I only adjusted the poundage. I did do the testing you recommended, but maybe not abusive enough. I'll do it again a little more forcfully.
Safety is paramount!

My 700 .270 would fire every time you closed the bolt when I adjusted it below 2lbs. Just over 2lbs and all is good.

I don't know if I'm below 2 pounds. Like I said I have a crude spring scale that I measured it with. If I will just spend the money for the right instrument, then I will know at what poundage I have it set. I will be sure to keep it above 2 pounds though. Thanks for the info.

My first one, I adjusted as light as I could and still be safe. Then checked it, and what do ya know, It was slightly over 2lbs. Anything less and it became unsafe. I love the Remmy triggers though. Knowing them well is the lone thing that keeps me buying their rifles.

One more that I use
with the safety on
pull the trigger
then release the safety
and make sure that it doesn't fire

Some remington triggers will set below 2 LBS and some wont. If you are doing all the things that the guys are telling you and it doesnt go off the is should be good to go....
