I have low and high amplification.
I hit the left arrow to take a picture and the flicker popped in. I was on medium amplification. Don't recall seeing that before.
David- thanks I will try again.
Is it my imagination or is the auto dimming thing vastly improved? Just went outside and was playing with it and couldn't get it to act up.

Same here, didn't see any dimming. Will try the light amplification again, then try downloading and updating again.

checked light amplification again, it worked, was trying to change while recording earlier, not sure if that was the issue, but buttons seem really strange when I was trying to change

Is it my imagination or is the auto dimming thing vastly improved? Just went outside and was playing with it and couldn't get it to act up. I have all levels of amplification. Same experience after taking a picture a flicker appeared on screen, was running medium at the time. Over all much improved or should I say a return to reasonable night time performance. It reminded me of my first trip with the scope, nice image quality out to 100-150 yards, limited dimming of image and very little lag when scanning. I still have no sound on video, tinkered with settings a bit but no go. Over all if ATN can keep this level of performance up they are on track. I wonder what a version without all the bells and whistles would look like? Just night vision with image & sound capture and drop everything else.

Also, let's try to keep the subject of this thread about the firmware - not complaints and demands for money back. That's a subject for another thread. Thanks I am gonna respond this time then I am done with the xsight threads, atn and anything to do with this pos product. as a buyer/owner of a 5-18 I bought feb. 11 of this yr. ALL my posts had been positive or simple questions while I waited on the promised firmware updates which have never been on time or made the scope function properly. I let atn/sachal lead me on like the rest of ya, we thought we were dealing with someone that had good info, well turns out sachal and atn are nothing but liars, I do not deal with liars or cheats. the atty general has my complaint and it is now in his hands (I have been contacted by others who have done the same and sent in complaints) so I will leave it at that. the only reason I posted what I did was to warn others to stay away from this product, it is falsely advertised, it has never worked as claimed and I for one do not have 800+ $ to pay for a pos product that will not do what it is supposed to, if you want to be a test sheep then baaaaaa baaaaa baaaa but I refuse to pay someone to test their product and make evaluations of its function so they can make money on it. not how you do business if you are on the up and up.

I hear you, hopalong, and feel your pain, since I, too, bought my 5-18 in February. I, too, have gone through the horrible roll-out, the terrible PR, the unbelievably poor manner in which ATN has treated its customers over these last few months. I, however, am going to stay in the fight for a couple of reasons: I'm so far past my warranty period that I have no chance of working that angle; and as an ex-software kind of guy, I still believe that, in spite of themselves, ATN is on to something with this package; and, lastly, I'm in the good position of not having to make or subsidize my living with this product. I have the luxury of time, which many of you do not. ATN made a HUGE mistake, and they've handled the fall-out very poorly. I don't know how much damage to the brand they have done, but based on everything I've been reading since February of 2015, the damage is significant. I've elected to take my many complaints directly to ATN rather than airing them on this Forum. It appeared to me that there were plenty of very legitimate complaints sounded on this and other Forums, (as well as a few personal attacks that I thought were in very bad taste, and did not add any light, only heat, to the issues)and the response by ATN has been far less than satisfactory. I think they'll fix this product; I just don't know how much older we will all be when that time comes around, or how much additional damage they'll do to their company name.

Just returned from some dusk/night testing with my 5-18 and .288. I'm still getting flickering and a bit of "auto-dimming" in video mode. As I was switching between still photos and video, the Sight locked up completely and would not perform any functions. A message appeared on the screen that the Sight was "to busy to take pictures." (Yes, it said "To busy," not "Too busy") I couldn't even turn it off. It had a captured screen shot of a MOJO woodpecker that I was using as "model," with the cross hair centered as when I took the pic; but for some reason it locked up solid. I had to unscrew the battery cap and reboot to get back into business. Then when I did a dump of the miniSD card there were several frames that would not display, and a message that the file had possibly been damaged. Has anyone else had a chance to exercise the new firmware release?

You have to use VLC Player. Or, you can use a converter, the native file is a '. Mov' you can then use the converter to change to others. I did not try QuickTime, it may play on it also.

Just got back in from testing my 5X before it started to pour. No sound on my on mine either, but it's no biggie to me. No other issues encountered. No flickering or dimming issues while testing in a wooded environment from 50 to 300 yards. I've had dimming issues with previous versions when the Illuminator flared the view out on closer objects. I expect field viewing should be the same. Didn't get to reset my X & Y coordinates to see if the reticle shift was still present while magnifying. Tomorrow's another day. I guess It takes a lot more issues to get my panties in a bunch. My scope keeps getting better. If the same improvements are encountered with the 3X version, I'm going to have to pick one up.

Where are you guys downloading .288 from?
I got an e-mail from ATN a couple days ago, just tried to click on the link and download the latest version and I get an error that says Server Not Found. Went to ATN's page, and to the download for the X-Sight and all I see is .266.

I downloaded it directly from the ATN site. I googled "ATN X-Sight Downloads" and it took me to the correct page to begin the download. I'll see if I can "cut and paste" the site for you. Here it is: http://www.atncorp.com/firmware/xsight3-12

Lol they did pull it. I think what had happened is they reposted the second originally released firmware 288 the one that was most stable and every one thought everything was fixed. I think I would like to get a refund as well the thing that scares me the most is diffrent people are getting diffrent results and if that is the case it's not a firmware issue its a hardware/quality control issue.
I'm a terrible shot but I follow up with a grenade!

This is very interesting! I downloaded .288 successfully on the first day it was released; got it loaded on my Sight; have discovered some problems; so has ATN really pulled it back? Have they sent out any notification that they pulled it, or given any reason for pulling it, if indeed they did?

As someone who works in the software industry, it's pretty clear that ATN's developers have no clue what they're doing (I wouldn't be surprised if they outsourced this work entirely). For these types of bugs to get past QA is also pretty sad given that the update was being "tested" for quite some time.
I don't know about you guys, but I wish I had just stuck with the photon.
