It may work on a rimfire

The trick will be the on and off cycle of the lens and getting a consistent repeatable point of impact, even with index markings it may not be exact.

Have fun with the trials and lets us know how it goes.

1st time poster! You guys are great. Been doing all the research I can find on the X-SIGHT and then I found this forum (and the previous version). Very informative. Needless to say, I ordered my 3-12 last week for my Pig Buster setup. Got it in Monday, and so far I've been able to work out most of the lil bugs (with some help from customer service) except for one I discovered last night. Has anyone had any issue with the 'High' setting within 'Light Amplification'? Mine is giving a great picture when I select high, but by the time I back out of the menu it goes dark again, like it defaulted to the 'Low's setting. It'll even do that when I stay on the options screen. Other times, it won't change from medium setting into high, even though it'll say is in 'High' setting, it doesn't seem to change from Medium.
I was hoping someone has seen this or similar and has a resolution. Otherwise, I've been pretty satisfied with the unit.
Thanks guys. Keep up the good work

when you get it set, are you hitting the 'enter' key and then exiting out?

I've done it every which-a-way. The 'high' setting by far gives the best image, but only momentary. Medium is ok, but not after seeing the picture that high gives. It will even kick it back into a low setting image on occasion, yet once just go back to the setting, it will say it's still in 'High'. Right now I can leave it in Medium, and everything works fine, but is hard, knowing home much better that high setting is (in the short time it works). I've read in here somewhere that reinstating the software has worked in clearing up some other bugs. I may try that this evening.

You may not like the high setting when hunting. My experience has been that the picture is "laggy" for lack of a better word. I use low and put up with the flicker.

RustyShacklefordTX45,
My 3x with .266 firmware does exactly the same thing as you just described. I thought it's called "auto dimming" here. Just like a regular video camera, if it think you have too much light, it will auto dimming the image. When I try to increase the intensity of the IR illuminator it comes with, the image also will increase temporary, and then dim some back down.
We are hoping ATN remove the "auto-dimming" function or at least have an option to turn if off on their next firmware update.

Well it's good to know I'm not the only one! I will make-do with the Medium setting for the time being. Thanks for the feedback.

Does anyone use an upgraded illuminator with the scopes? Any personal recommendations?

X2 on the Unv20ir. MKL sent me information on a similar model on eBay that I received last week but I haven't had a chance to try in the field yet.

T38 809 mini Hunting Torch Flashlight Night Vision Illumination Long Range 38mm - $36 w/o batteries.

I'm going to the lease Friday if the rain lets up and will report on it Monday.

I've been wondering about the T38 and T50 on ebay also. I guess they both give a "tighter" focus than the T20's??? Looking forward to your review.

Here's a couple of vids from a 5-18 X-Sight with V.266 loaded.
First vid is an example of the reticle walk off challeng which I thought had been corrected. I verified the version number after the download, tried the two settings in regard to reticle and it made no difference. I removed my shims thinking the reticle centering challenge had been corrected.
The second vid, I was waiting out pigs and used a varmit mouth call as I was bored.
Sitting in the rack of a Ranger backed into a treeline. I didn't expect anything but a coyote appeared within ten seconds. POI is aprx 5" low using 168gr AMAX out of my AR-10 with a 20" barrel. I thought I had the crosshairs at the top of his back but looking at it using freeze frame I was low. I had turned the mic on after the firmware download but from what I read it resolves to the off position once the scope is powered off. My videography skills need a lot of work. In the coyote vid I set the rifle aside and try to coax him back using the call a couple of times.

Cheers

Dirt:

If you go into the menu to this point:

Display/reticle/zoom position

Is it set to reticle or center?

If it is set to reticle it should not go off the screen.

This seems to vary from scope to scope. My last 3x would stay centered if set to the "center" setting but move if on the "reticle" setting.

I've sent them all back and plan to try something else.

If I was a swearing man I'd swear I tried it both ways. I'm about 99.9% certain I did.
But I'll drag the AR-10 out tomorrow and triple check as I am aware of the two setting options.

Don't forget to hit ENTER before backing out. It may not change.

You may very well have. Doesn't seem like there is a lot of consistency between any two scopes.

A few ways. Move files on to computer, connect S5 to computer, computer should be able to see the phone and files, move videos to SD storage on the phone, use video player to play.

Also, load Samsung Kies on your computer, it has many features including backup and can move files from computer.

See why I'm not a swearing man..............
I changed the setting and now the reticle moves to the center while zooming.
However, it moves in conjunction with the zoom ratio meaning to achive a centered reticle the scope must have full zoom applied. With the 5X, using the zoom feature isn't desirable very often, for me anyway. Is there a way to have the reticle centered using scope's programming functions?

Does your phone have a micro sd slot? My note 3 does and I just pull the card and put it in my phone and use "file manager" to view what's on the card.

Your note 3 is a tank that's why you have a slot, his micro SD is inside, have to either remove and plug in to computer, but easier as I said above

Glad you got it. No way to change it via settings. The only thing you can do is shim.

OK, I ordered a T50 IR illuminator without the batteries, etc. Trying to order batteries and a charger, but came across one vendor who has Panasonic 18650's, 3400ma. One pair is $16, but says they are unprotected(flat button on each end) and his comments says not to use in flashlights. He has another pair that look identical as far as labeling, but he says they are protected (have a raised button on one end). They are $23 a pair.

Here is a link to the "unprotected" pair. You can look at his other stuff and find the protected ones.
What say you?????

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NEW-PANASONIC-...=item5af57fba11

sorry, I don't know how to change the link to "here"
